Default 1911 magazines?

Looking for some decent magazines for my Taurus, I want some flush mount mags instead of the factory ones with the plastic bases.

What are some good choices? Are there any lower priced ones that deliver on quality as well?

8rd is preferred

I hear good things about the wilson combats, but they are a little pricier than a lot of others I've seen too

Wilson Combat, Ed Brown and MecGar magazines are about the best. You may not like that plastic piece on the mag bottom, but it is put there for a very legitimate reason. During a gun fight, if you have to reload, the plastic piece is there to insure that the mag locks into place. Without it, you stand a chance of bringing the gun to bear after you thought it was locked and having the magazine drop back out. Just a little saftey feature.

I've had good luck with Chip McCormick mags.

I don't intend to be in any gunfights and for the time being have no intention carrying the gun for anything other than fishing and having fun.

I picked up a Kimber mag today for $15 to try out. If the McCormicks are supposed to be pretty good I might order some of those from cheaperthandirt

Wilson Combat for me. I'm slowly collecting enough of them so that each of my 10 1911's will have 2 each.

BTW, I just made a deal on GunsAmerica for a Sig GSR 1911 with tac rail. Less than $900.00.

I have 3-4 of the wilson combats...... but they sit in the bottom of the parts bin thanks to Chip McCormick.

I even got the Chip follower and spring for my Colt factory mag.

Love em'
