I just acquired my grandfather double barrel 20 gauge black powder rifle. The markings are <AMR> C-20 28145 15.2 S*1 700KGS. It also has two other marks: a 8 with a C attached and a [X] with a 91 above it. Does anyone know any information about this rifle. How old it is? Who is the maker? etc... thank you

Welcome to the forum.
Sounds like a modern replica, here's an earlier post on this forum that was not answered: http://www.thefirearmsforum.com/showthread.php?t=78159 |

POST some pics. Apparently nobody can ID your shotgun from the markings.

It appears to be a double barrel shotgun with, what looks to me, Italian Brescia proof marks. I'm thinking it's of fairly recent manufacture, despite the hammers.????

It has modern Spanish proofmarks; the three balls in a triangle is the final black powder proof for muzzleloading shotguns, and the shield with crown and crossed guns is the mark used by the Eibar proofhouse (source: Wirnsberger's "The Standard Directory of Proof Marks").
It's a 20th century reproduction, made or maybe only exported by Armas Aral, but I don't find much about the company. Last edited by hrf; 07-29-2011 at 10:46 AM.. |

I bow to hrf's info. Also, saw your question/pics and the same reply on another forum site. Nice piece, BTW. Have you shot it?
