Angry USAF Disses Christmas Child

Sorry Guys Just Pissed...Wouldn't want Christmas associated with any American Service.

The Air Force Academy apologized Thursday night after it was accused of religious intolerance for promoting Operation Christmas Child – a program designed to send holiday gifts to impoverished children around the world.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation said military commanders crossed the line when they promoted the gift program, sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, an organization run by Franklin Graham.

Operation Christmas Child said they expect to send more than 8 million shoe box gifts to underprivileged children in 100 countries. Around 60,000 churches and 60,000 community groups in the United States are participating.

Weinstein said an evangelical Christian message is also included in the boxes.

“This is a proselytizing entity of Franklin Graham,” said the group’s president, Mikey Weinstein. He filed a complaint on behalf of 132 Academy personnel including two sets of Muslim-American parents

The problem was not the toys going to poor kids.

The problem was the "evangelical Christian message" that was included. Last time I looked, the US Air Force was not a religious organization, and the US Government is expressly forbidden from being one. Therefore they have no business "missionarying".

Would you be this pissed if they had been giving presents for Ramadan, and the included an evangelical Islamic message with the gifts?

Don't know, Jack. Don't know what mosques you're talking about.

If we blew it up, while trying to blow up terrorists, then I see no problem with building it.

If we are helping rebuild a war-torn country, and we build a bridge here and a school there, and the dominant religion of the country is Islam, I see no problem with building a mosque.

I see no problem with building a temple or a synagogue or a cathedral, either. I see no problem with giving away toys.

But if you want to missionary, by all means, go to it. But don't do it with my tax dollars, when the supreme law of the land says you can't do it.

I've, pretty much, always lived in military towns. The bases have always been big on "toys for tots". Come Christmas time, if you ain't got no money for gifts for your kids, if you get the word to the base, there will be presents. Them soldiers and sailors and Marines - they give toys and they give clothes and they give electronic stuff. But they don't give Bibles. They don't give tracts. They don't try to convert you to Christianity. That's not their job.

The churches around here, they do something similar. If they find out there's some poor folks around (and that was me, one year, when I was sitting home on workman's comp for three months) that ain't hardly making it, and the kids might not get a Christmas. They brought us Christmas dinner - we had to cook it, but there was a turkey and box of stuffing and sack of potatoes and a bag of flour and of sugar and a fruit cake. They brought presents for the kids. And they brought a Bible. But that's THEIR job.

You don't understand, Airdale.

It is only Christian outreaches, terms and symbols that are prohibited.
Islamic outreaches, terms and symbols are fine, and can be tax supported.

A CHURCH at ground zero in NYC was denied a permit to re-furbish, and will be removed.
But a Mosque gets a green-light, and the Imam raising funds to build it is shuttled around the world by our State Department to aid his efforts.

And this is NOT an Obama problem; our State Department building mosques for oil-rich Islamics preceeds his time in office.

The lunatics are, indeed, running the assylum.

Protest.
Write letters.
Vote.
We CAN turn this horrid mess around, but only when our people wake the heck UP and stop their natural tendency to be nice guys who cater to the minority at the expense of the majority.

Religious intolerance my ass, if they were tolerant they would have let the program continue. I have read at least 8 or 9 stories on this and not a single line about what the message said. Not only congress needs cleaning, I think most of the ranks above Lt. Colonel ought to hit the bricks and find gainful employment elsewhere. What a pile of felonius fecal failure from our pathetic military command.
