Well it is almost done I am waiting on the firing pin.
I talked to jack and he said it is held up waiting for a full load at air port then it's off to me. Here are some pics. of the project I have been taking them as I went along. 1st to remind you of what it looked like then in progress then the end.

And almost finished (with out the pin.)
I got out as much of the pitting with out taking off the stamps as I dared. Checkered the grips,Gold plated the trigger and hammer. Now to put in the pin fit it and test it then send it in for a giveaway. Mike |

Sorry Beth I was trying to get all the pics. up.
I buffed out as much as i could. The steel was hot blued and the alum. was painted with baking lacquer. The gold was electric plated. Spent all day getting it together it was a bummer all I had to work with was a parts list so it took awhile to figure out what went ware. Mike Last edited by goofy; 06-28-2012 at 04:15 PM.. |

buffed it out how? If you are taking steel off by sanding isn't that going to change how the gun fits tolerance and all that?

Beth It can but you do it slow and yes I sanded 1st then buffed it taking care to not change the shape.Sometimes you have to do what you can and stop before you go to far and except what you have as the best that you are going to get.

Goofy,
Whoever gets that is gonna be a lucky sob! . Knowing the history and seeing your hard work(I hope people understand how much work that is!) makes it doubly desireable. I'd love to put it in my collection. Great Work! ![]()

It was Time2shoot that donated the gun and the grips were finished with TRU-OIL.
And jack hand made the firing pin. Kind of a group donation. Mike |
