reloading .44 mag - The Firearms Forum

i will be buying a .44 mag very shortly and i was looking at what to use to reload them here is a list of what i was goign to order let me know what you guys thing

- lee carbide 3 die set
- lee case lengh gauge for the lee hand trimer
- for bullets i was thinking about ordering some nosler .429 200 grain JHP these bullets will be for just target shooting
- causes not sure yet maybe remington
- primers not sure yet either

also if any one could look at nosler listing for what they used for there testing

If all you're going to be doing is paper-punching or plinking tin cans, JHPs are a pretty spendy way to go.

Light loads (less than 1000 fps) and lead SWCs are far less expensive, just as accurate (in fact, more so), have less recoil, and are just as much fun.

Do you have any reloading books? I would highly recommend these three:

Yep, I'd stick with a 240gr LSWC with 6.5 gr of Unique. Just my opinion.

those bullets are not the expensive they are like $25 for the 250 bullets

i have noticed that some places has 44 cal listed as .429 and others have some listed as .430 whill either one work in the 44 mag?

Yes, I size all my cast bullets as .429. Usually .430 won't hurt, but will raise pressures some. Not to worry.
