Default Chilling words...

I saw this on another forum and decided to share it here. The following was written by Alexander Tyler in 1778, in "The Cycle of Democracy".

Quote:
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years.

These nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage.
I personally think we're in the "from apathy to dependency" stage. Our government is working hard on the dependency factor. Not long now, before we're back to bondage. We've already exceeded our two-hundred year estimated lifespan. But I seriously doubt we will make it to three hundred.

I am 100% with that.

I have the flow chart, from Bondage to Bondage.

If WE DON'T STAND OUR GROUND NOW, WHOSE GROUND
WILL WE STAND ON IN THE FUTURE ?

I was listening to the radio this morning. They were talking about this very subject. I think it was niel bortz.

I agree with you sniper we are in the apathy to dependancy mode. Even my wife seems to think it is ok to give the government 45% of what we make. She says "Look at all they do for us". Quite frustrating to try and explain it is our money.
We are on borrowed time if the majority continues to act like a flock of Ostridges. Head in the sand and hope the troubles go away on their own.

Yea, Boortz covered this one Tuesday and it is a chilling reminder of what we have to look forward to.
But the scarriest question is what do we do about it? Do we just sit back and "hope things will work themselves out"?
Do we hope that the "political process" can be brought back under control? (yea right)
Does anyone think that there's enough of us to pick up arms against them when the bondage phase rolls around again? And on whose side would the military fall?
I wish I could see another way around it, but the latter may be our only recourse if something doesn't change soon.
What the hell kind of country have we left for our offspring?
Personally I'm ashamed of what our country has been allowed to become.

I guess the question becomes how do we educate our citizenry to get away from this cycle? If we can have the 20-20 foresight to see the problem, you'd think we'd be able to fix it.

I will predict here and now that we will have another revolution. When the government raises taxes to the point where there is no longer an incentive for us to work hard, then, and only then will enough people revolt. I can see it coming so clearly that it scares me.

We the People fare much better when the political serpents
are not in the den of vipers(Wash.DC). These political serpents
never were the answer and never will be the answer. And if
you believe that these political serpents believe in a
Constitution(except a handfull) and are protecting your rights
then you must be an Ostrich with your head in the sand. They keep passing unconstitutional laws. Every law that they pass is
a freedom chip off of your freedom block, soon you will not have
a freedom block, and by that time you will be happy with your
freedom chains. When it should be the other way around, let them pass laws that give us more freedom. When is the last time
you saw a law that gave 'We The People' more freedom ? If not
then why pass any laws ? Maybe we should not vote for anyone.
Never vote for an incumbent if you want to see change.
LewairLavell suggests educating our citizenry. Educating the
people is the best weapon we have right now, one person at
a time. The problem is they do not want to hear it, if you are
interfering with their football and baseball games, wrestling,
HBO, sixpack, etc. These same people can talk stats about their
favored player all day long and not know anything about our
Founding Fathers, Constitution or have a clue where their
rights come from and don't even care, and that is sad.
Every person can do something to make a difference. The other
problem is that nobody wants to be the nail that is sticking up.
If you do not know your rights then you don't have any.
We need to get away from this Democracy (mobocracy) and
return this country to a limited Republican form of government as
guaranteed in the Constitution Article 4 section 4.
Democracy= 51% of the people can take the rights away
from the other 49%. A lynchmob is also democratic !
In a Republican form of government 99% of the people cannot
take the rights away from the other 1%.
You mention the picking up of arms... We did this once before at
Lexington and Concord over a lot less and we started our
country and this was done with a minority. But i am surprised
that it has not happened yet. But that is what happens when
a populace is dumbed down and entertained and lied to by
our own Media and political process. We keep voting new
people in without seeing a change, it's the same music with
new dancers on the floor.
We outnumber them.

Well said, Shizamus!

It is also important to note that nobody these days wants to be a "radical". We are all frightened to death of being seen as radical. Because the government kills radicals. Look to Waco for an example.

But all of our founding fathers were radicals. Brave men like Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Patrick Henry (among many others) were considered dangerous men. They took every opportunity to wreak havoc on the British stranglehold on the colonies. What will it take to bring brave men like these out of hiding today and lead us back to the path of liberty? They will have to be men who are not afraid of persecution by an overbearing military government, who can unite the people and rally them to demand liberty once again, even if it requires fighting to the death.

Wel said Sniper. This is exactly why the liberals want to take away our guns. They know where we are headed, and they know we will revolt if we are armed.

Which brings to mind the movie with Mel Gibson:

"BRAVEHEART"

Which brings to mind a very serious question :

Are you willing to DIE for what you believe in ?

Or if i live, i can enjoy my wife, kids and beer under the
pretense of happiness in my new freedom chains.

What a choice.

DOING THE RIGHT THING IS ALWAYS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.

more John Quincy Adams there sniper.
well if there were a revolution today, with all the military that would be under gov control it would be over really quickly.

I hardly think the country is headed that far that quick, we have been making positive baby steps albiet slow as hell, but we are coming too.

Ah, but when that time comes, most of the military will be on our side

We hope.

And even if they are, that's when the UN will step in.

Default Greetings from the frog in the pot of hot water....

You can cook a frog alive. The trick is to turn the heat up very gradually, allowing the frog to get used to the increased temp before you turn up the heat again. You will eventually cook the frog to death without his jumping out of the pot.

Well, fellow frogs, the water seems to be considerably hotter than it was the first time I checked, back in 1964. I'd rather jump than croak....
