Yup, Berto, it brings back some pretty horrible memories doesn't it? With us though, it was "baby killers" and "establishment slaves" and other epithets even worse. I think I got in more fights the first year I was back than I had in Vietnam.

When I got home everyone I went to high school with kept asking those type of questions. I finally quit talking about having been in the army in Vietnam and just told everyone that I'd been working 'out of state'.

They didn't have a clue and couldn't understand my explanations and I got tired of trying.

Then I moved on, couldn't handle their ignorance any longer.

By the time I returned in 1970, the sentiment against the war was so strong in this country that I had a very hard time coping. However tempting it was to try (and for a while I did try!), I learned it was not possible to squash all the "bugs." Like you, I finally just gave up . . . before I squashed one just a little too hard and ended up screwing up my own life.

Thanks Grunt! Showed that video to my 14-year-old son. He understands better now, watched the rest of Dollard's stuff, and likes Blood for Blood...just don't tell his mom that I turned him on to it. She'd tie my f#*k stick in a knot!
