i have never heard any Christian claim that it was the original religion.... Judaism maybe...
The first religion if you want to get overly technical was people that worshipped fire, at least a documented one, cave drawings and very primative writing. And yes earthly or wican beliefs were around before Jesus' time, but they were known as pagons and such.

First off my point regarding religion was that, in my opinion, the religion don't make you what you are ...you make you who you are, good, bad or ugly.
Second off regarding wica... I ment only to point out that the real wican religion is not 'evil' nor a bunch of satan worshiper's, that's the common mistake most people make...actually many christan holiday 's are taken directly from the wican & pagan religions ...Easter is for Easterage (sp) the goddess of fertility.
Neither Wicans or Pagons ever recognized or believed in "the devil" or "hell" , they were, to steal the term from FNP_90,"earthly" , the "witch's were knowledgeable of herbs and healing powers of the body and nature...in those day's it was a good thing...until christian kings outlawed it for political reasons ....we know what happened next...and all in the name of christianity...

I understood your point. The traditions are taken from them, but not the ideas behind the Christian holidays, Christmas trees are a pagan thing. The mixing of traditions was to convert pagans originally. I have to disagree about wica, but am not going to get into it because both our minds are mind up anyway

It's just that I was trying to disspell the common missbeliefe that wica is an evil, satanic devil woshipping religion ... they ain't...true wica does not believe in the "devil" or "hell" ...however now days there are alot of "self proclaimed "witch's " supposadly practicening wica ...they say their wican but they arn't....I am not trying to build up or promote wica or any other religions ...as I stated earlier ...no preferance...I just happened to have been married to a wican and she showed me over time what they were all about ,...it is (real wica) an earthly type of religion ..."do as you will, but harm to none"... "mother earth"...carma...any bad deed will return to you three fold and all that stuff...their big on knowledge of natural healing & herbs...that in middevil day's seemed like magic ...matter of fact wica is a recognized religion by the US gov't. However do not confuse wica with satanic cults ...they are the "fad" and they missinterpret and misslead people by calling themselves "witches" ...

witches/satanic peeps freak me out, some lady that was on jury duty with my mum while I was in middle school said she cursed my family and that something bad would happen to one of her sons. That lady ended up being the person that was to give my brother the anastesia when he got his wisdom teeth removed and my mum recognized her, and she promptly lost her job after admitting she said that to my mother. :O

My cousin Jake would like to disagree just a teeny weeny bit.

He says a lot of kids like to hang out with other kids and he's
heard a lot of parents tell their kids that they should not be
hanging around so and so and so and so because they are
trouble. He thinks that the parents must know something that
their kids don't, mainly that even good kids get to do bad things,
probably because these bad kids after a while influence the
good kids. Jake says he heard this saying, it goes something
like this, 'Bad associations spoil useful habits' or something
like that he says, and that influence and the power of suggestion
can bring anybody down and that you have to have your guard
up all the time.
Cousin Jake thinks that some guys can figure out what is right
and what is wrong because somebody helped them figure it
out a long, long, long time ago.
Cousin Jake got to talking about this with his buddy Vinnie, and
Vinnie agreed with cousin Jake that people a long, long time ago
knew a lot more about all of this right and wrong stuff because
they believed in this guy upstairs and went to church and to
cathechism, and bible study and stuff like that. And cousin Jake
says, yeah, look at these knuckleheads they split their tongues
and put bones in their noses and metal rings thru their skin and
these knuckleheads think that's cool, and you know Vinnie, then
after a while, everybody sees this going on, and they seem to
be good with it, and then after a while they're cool with it . And
Vinnie says, yeah, and then they turn into knuckleheads, and
start running bones thru their noses, hehe. Maybe it's because
they don't believe in that guy upstairs anymore and there
ain't nobody around to tell them what's up anymore, nobody
cares anymore, mom is shooting up and pop is sellin the stuff,
and you know Jake, it's got to have to do with the guy upstairs
because he don't go for that stuff, so what I think is going on
cousin Jake is that they are starting to go downstairs, you know
that guy downstairs is into all that stuff like drugs, bones, spikes,
noserings, spears, and he's got these big fires going, and he
gets a blast from burning these guys and chicks just for kicks.
Yeah, and he's really into controlling your mind and you should see Jake, all the perversions he's into, you know Jake, that guy
downstairs he's got no problems getting these young people to go downstairs with him, I don't understand it, they like it!
I understand where your coming from Vinnie, how about another
beer ?
Cousin Jake says that the devil is a smart cookie, and that he
can make a wrong seems sooo right, and that the influence,
power of suggestion and temptation go sooo good together,
they are all pulling in the same direction, boy I wish my family
could pull together that smoothly.
Well anyway, cousin Jake is glad that you and him kind of think
alike on this one, that witchcraft is all around us and that we just can't shake it, all the time in your face, he rest's his case.
So he thinks it's better just to go to the on and off button and shut it off, yeah you know, the guy downstairs ? yeah, slam the door in his face, end it.
And with Jake around, he's trying to convince me that Witchcraft's
roots are twisted up with the guy's roots downstairs, kind of
like all this stuff is in the same root cellar you know having a
good time. And about the cash, you know, even if you don't
know, that ain't even the point. The thing is that the schools,
you know , these government indoctrination camps, are shoving
this stuff down your throat and just about makin these kids
read this stuff, and then you got this clam on the west or is it
left coast, you know , he wrote this book see, about some
kind'a taxes you know, and he called it The Federal Mafia, right,
and a judge comes along and says hey buddy were gone come
over and burn all your books see, and don't you dare sell another
one, and don't you dare talk about any of that stuff any more,
or your gon'e go to jail buddy, so there. So this clam is thinking
that he's got the Constitution and that 1st amend thing,and he's thinking that even if this book ain't got no truth in it, and he's thinking that he's got the right to say it, and Vinnie say's, it ain't like he's yellin fire at the movies you know. But anyway, like
cousin Jake is trying to say, you got'a watch all the time what
is going down around ye and if you go back to watchin that Devilvision and drinkin that stuff that makes everything look better, then it ain't gone be long before we is partying with the
guy downstairs.
Just to be on the safe side Jake and Vinnie don't want'o
start no trouble, they just wan'to say thanks for hearin
us out, you know, like everything is cool. This is what it's all
about right ?
Yeah, cousin Jake is something else.

It's truly sad to know that weak minds are so easily manipulated. What's equally disturbing, is knowing that in every walk of life there's someone doing the manipulation?

There is a fine line between Good & Evil, and it's so thin there's only 1 side. With that in mind ... IMHO, it's faith that decides which side of the line one is on.

The vast majority of wars were fought over the the most mundane matters (commerce mostly). Just because some guy in a pointy hat declared a war "holy" doesn't mean it had anything to do with faith or religion. It's kinda like the old axiom: "Money is the root of all evil". It's sorta true but would be more accurate if said: "Power is the root of all evil and money is just a convenient way to keep score". Interestingly, the science of wholesale murder only came into it's own during the 20th century. It was perfected by the officially, atheistic Nazis and Communists. Go figure.
