Default BUILT IN OBSLEIANCE (BIO)

For many of you, that subject term may be foreign--may even sound strange and meaningless. I suppose I heard the term first in relation to automobiles---that Detroit performed some unique function on their newly built cars, and when a certain amount of time had elapsed, would suddenly begin falling apart, just disintegrating right there on your driveway. Actually, I think it was more of the human frailty---you know of people just wanting a new set of wheels--their old fliver was as faithful and reliable as Old Shep herding the cows, but they just want to move up in style, power, and appearance. Dang, I think it works with most material things we possess---your old wood burning cook stove was working just fine but you saw a neighbors new electric range with a smooth gloss top where the boiled over oat meal can just be wiped off---or that 1936, wringer model Maytag washer machine, doesn't lend itself to effortless laundry chores and you want a new one. Okay, that is only two examples for you---seems as if we are only picking out the little woman's household appliances. "Hey Hairy-Legs, when was the last time you sawed a board with a cross cut saw---or drilled a hole without using that cordless drill". You've kept those old back breaking tools around in anticipation that someday some fool will come around and offer you premium bucks because they are antiques. Sure Pilgrim, we could go on and on about the material things aging and falling apart---but what about us. I know some of you readers of these remarks will offer up something religious and profound about your own 'built in obsleiance' (BIO), but don't you just marvel at how you've changed---see old photos of yourself taken 40 years ago and pangs of hurt invade your thoughts---don't you just want to take those handsome/lovely photos of yourself and show your newfound friends of how you looked back in the 60's. Your new found friend and you compare notes about the past illnesses you survived and then go on about recent medical invasiveness of you most sensitive body orifices---what new medical procedures were employed and what electronic tools were used. Aren't you glad they don't have to use that old ROTO-ROOTER device any more---that the young snot nosed medical doctor/specialist peers thru electronic magnifying lenses while operating a robot looking gadget thru an incision no larger than the nick you used to do with your Gillette razor as you shaved your fresh handsome face---or you Princess as you used that borrowed razor of your hubbies to shave those once luscious looking gams (that's what Hollywood use to call ladies legs). Hey, time changes everything---even words and phrases. I know the term 'built-in obslesance' (BIO) has been around for a long time-I didn't coin the expression but I do favor it's authenticity --. Enjoy your day Little Missie---as you do your holiday shopping, pick a new idea tool out for the man in your life---he'll in turn just might get you that new counter top can and jar opener---or that pizza cooker---or those new electric scissors---you didn't want that Chanel #5 fragrance anyway--or that carat and half bauble you've been hinting about to wear on your lovely dishwater hands---do diamonds have the BIO feature about them---where do they recycle used diamonds----do they put them back into the ground when they are finished with them---hhmmmmnnnnn? Chief

Have used the old cross-cut saw this year Chief. It still has a purpose. For wood and for music!!
