looking at 308 German surplus ammo that has nickle plated lead bullets. Does the nickle plating cause any problems with the barrels or no different than copper?

I dont know anything about that, dbltap. Seems like it would be pretty hard on your barrel. The nickel should be harder thant the normal copper jacket, but I dont know what affeect this would have. Maybe somebody else has some experience with it....

Its not pure nickel. The ammo has a cupronickel jacket. An alloy of copper containing 10-30% nickel. For Projectile jackets it will be a low nickel content.
It is safe to fire as normal...... |
