Default Why I ceased to exist here yesterday -

Here I was, chores done, workout done, just settled in for a day on TFF, when the Mrs. turned off Fox news and said "Let's go to town."
"OK", I said, with somewhat less than great enthusiasm.
"We need some groceries"
"OK", with no increase in enthusiasm.
"And we can go to Crown of East for lunch"
"OK" - a bit more enthusiasm now, as I do love to eat, and this is a GREAT place.
"And then lets go and buy that Glock you have been drooling over"
"OKAY!!" HUGE enthusiasm now!
I barely remembered to shut the computer down in my mad dash for the door -

And THEN what happened?
We went to every gun shop in Clarksville -
ALL were sold out of the Glock 17 -
One had a used Glock 23 which made me stop and consider a slightly more compact weapon.
But EVERYONE was SOLD OUT of Glock 17's and 19's.
ONE guy had a nice .40, but he was JUST over the state line and could not sell it to me -

I am calling shops in another city today to see what I can find.

Man, this upcomming election is causing a BOOM in the firearms business, it seems -

I sure wish I could get my wife to do that.

How far are you willing to travel? A gunstore over here had a case full of them a couple weeks ago.

I've noticed that as well.
When I went and bought my Glock 19 some time back, 'bout every shop had them. I stopped by a GS that I give a lot of buisness to and they had just become a Glock dealer so I bought mine there.
Well...went back about a week later and they didnt have a one and has only had a couple in there sence then. And them being a "new" dealer of Glocks.
They are a "smaller" shop, but still...
(get what you can, while you can, is the way I see it)

If you've been putting off, better not put off too much longer the way it's been looking.
November will tell!
Hope you find you a Glock soon.

Bet you can find your Glock at Bud's. I try to support local guys but when they don't have what I want I've gone the net route. Check these out.
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/i...sort/6a/page/1

When I bought from them I tried to save a few bucks by going with the cash price (send 'em your banking info. etc.) Took a lot longer. I'd just pay with a CC to speed things up. They have preferred FFLs and I went that route. The whole transaction went off without a hitch.

Good luck

Im not a fan of Glocks but to each there own. I have noticed a great increase in gun sales at the LGS and it is a very small store. They cant keep anything in stock and have a hard time getting things from there distributor. I have a few guns i want to buy before the end of the year if the bank account would cooperate!

Not a big Glock fan. (I prefer the XDM line of CC weapons.) But, I really do like the Glock 26.

I've shot & handled several different Glocks. If I ever decide to go to a Glock platform for my PCW, it will most likely be a Glock 26.

FOUND THEM!

Dealer in Dickson has BOTH the 17 and 19 so I can do a real comparison, and buy one.

Sticking to 9mm because it has a LONG beard on it.
about 30% cheaper to feed, too -

Gotta sign up for the CCW safety course, too -

I bought the 19 in 9mm. compact, for that very reason Terry.
Can almost wear it 24/7 and hardly tell you have it on or in your side.
Was carrying it on my side and switched to the IWB in the small of my back.
Now, trying it out IWB on the side and seems to be working out better!

My wife actually came into the gun store with me to pick up my .38 that I bought on-line - even took a minute to look at the pink .380's in the case. Then, to top it off, when I won the auction yesterday on ***** for a nice, restorable old .32 Lemon Squeezer she didn't mind! Shocked the hell out of me considering how pissed off she was when I got my 1911

I thought the Glock craze was over. No?
I hear the phaser is the next thing. You can set it to "stun" if you want some answers before the kill shot.

No money in guns, waste of good time, spend more than you make...that is unless you can play with the big boys....

Wow, thanks for all the feedback, guys!

I went in, signed up for the safety course that they agent for, then started handling both the 17 and the 19.
Honestly, holding them up, side by side, there is just not that much difference in the two sizewise. And I am a pretty big guy, so an extra half inch does not mean much.
After trying both in a holster (retention roto paddle), and decided they were so close that opted for the 17 shot version.
Bought gun, holster, four boxes of target ammo, two boxes of defense ammo, and while I was checking out, the guy asked Judy why she was not taking the course too. She said she didn't think she needed it, now that I am retired and home all the time.
Then she said "If Terry leaves a gun in the car, and I jump in and run an errand, how much trouble would I be in if I got stopped for some reason and they found it?"
He told her that she WOULD be in trouble.
She signed up for the course too - bought a few boxes for her little .38 Chiefs Special Smith, another hip holster, and we will go together next Saturday.

My discover card is panting, though - -

A major part of my decision on the Glock is that it is still the most popular make for LEO's. Here, our city council is armed too - all with Glocks.

Glocks are fine.......not like in 1984 [?] where they
removed more skin than you had on your hand .......
they are reliable, and they shoot well.
1911's they are not, but steel is steel, and
Glocks are dependable.
My youngest son, a sheriff, carries one [or more] for work......
and he can 'afford' whatever he wishes, especially since his wife
owns a gun store....and the department has no restrictions.....
I am not a huge fan, but I can't say anything negative against them....
I fire his....they shoot very well, and they takedown easily and simply....
When I acquire all the revolvers and 1911's I decide I need......
I may even get me a Glock..or two.
