First off they wouldn't be demanding anything before getting a firearm leveled at them.

Depends! If I caught them at the door, I'ld send em packing. If I caught them in the house, the only packing that would be done would be by the grave digger.

Run out the backdoor screaming for the cops to help. Oh wait, Missouri has the "Castle Doctrine".

Wait, I'm on the second floor.
Oh yeah. Washington has the Castle Doctrine also.

Even tho the cop shop is less than a minute away, I can open the safe in the same amount of time I can dial 911. And I don't have to wait.

It depends on how they expressed their wantonness. Wanting too and taking steps to do so are different matters.

My home has been been burgaled twice.

It's NOT a good feeling when you open the door to find your home has been ransacked and your belongings stolen.

If I'm home, it will not happen again.

I have an infant in the house.

I would have malice in my heart and a 12 gauge in my hands. I would tell their grieving families where they could find the word "sympathy" in the dictionary afterward.

To tell the truth I don't know. If I saw gun I would shoot, no warning no bs just bang, ... until they were neutralized. I keep my doors locked at night so it would have to be some form of breaking and entering which I suspect would put me in fear for my life and my wife's which is reasonable cause in NH. The problem is regardless of the outcome it will be a financial drain defending yourself in court. Even if it is a justifiable shooting there are bound to be civil suits for shooting the poor misunderstood child that was simply in the wrong home.

The Castle Doctrine protects against civil suits. Is this not in effect up in NH yet?

Not in NC, it doesn't! The only thing our "Castle Doctrine" does is say that we are under no legal obligation to try and retreat before using deadly force if we are on our own property.

Shoot, and make sure they were on my side of the door sill. Then I'd ask them, "what was it you wanted again? I didn't quite hear you."

Your home is your castle and you are under no obligation to run however there is no protection from civil suits. We had a Castle Doctrine that applied to your auto passed in 2005 but the governor vetoed it and there wasn't enough votes to override.

Since I'm in New Jersey, I'd be obliged to help thlese find folks in carrying out my possibles - because they might be state officials - and then begging to shing their shoes or perform any other menial services they might require or desire.....Because I am a loyal, law abiding, servant of the State of New Jersey........

BTW....does the word "satire" ring any bells ? >MW
