You're sure its a 1917 and not a New Service? What are the markings on the butt and the left side of the barrel? What caliber?

It's a 1917. Chambered in 45acp. So marked on the butt.

Just went and pulled it back out to check again.

Butt.. the Mdl has been buffed out but 1917 still there. No 137,1xx. Barrel Colt DA 45.

Here's my improved New Service. It has a modified front sight and some custom grips.
