Default they are here! (pics)

we got our 1st flock of birds this morning. ashley only got 3 pics & these pics do not do these houses justice.... there are baby birds EVERYWHERE!! we have 5 houses total, the front 2 houses are smaller & only have 9,000 in 1 & 7,000 in the other, the other 3 have approx 13,000 birds per house.

we worked until 2 am to get things ready for these birds & troy was back down there at 5:30. last night was the latest we worked, but its been steady since we bought the place in august & there is still SO MUCH left to do. its all a little overwhelming.....

OMG what memories!!!!!!!!

My uncle used to do this when I was a kid Rosie and I loved it!

What do you plan to do with the birds that expire on site? He used to feed them to the hogs...Geeze I used to enjoy watching that, feathers and all...Gone in 2 seconds!

Holy Chicken Poo, Batman! Can you say" Honey Wagon?"

When Jessie was 2, she really loved animals. We went to see a customer of mine, who invited us to see her newborn goats. They were sooo cute. Well Kim had chickens too. She took Jessie in the coop to find some eggs. Jess was wearing these hot pink pull-on boots. The chickens were fascinated. They flocked to the boots till Jess had backed into a corner. The look on her face was priceless. She didn't know whether to scream, cry, or laugh. But finally she smiled, when she realized the chickens were just curious. Such a good flashback!

Good luck w/ the chicks, Mama Hen, Rosie!

Hey, if Rosie made a video of the chickens, would it qualify as a "chick flick?"

HA! HA! HA! ya'll are so funny!

SG ~ my dad will probably be spreading it as it comes out the houses... he's pretty excited not to have to buy it any more, of course ~ he's more than paid for it for the next few yrs, he's done SO MUCH to help us. if it hadnt been for him, i dunno what we'd have done. he has been overseeing the farm & all of the work crews for us & has paid a good portion of the grading bill, not to mention he's allowing us to use the generator he bought bc we found out 2 or 3 wks ago that the generator on the farm needs to be replaced.

pick ~ this is a pullet farm. we're raising breeders that will hatch out birds for a broiler farm, so i guess the answer to the question is both?! (broiler farms provide meat for the stores.)

rosierita: Gal; as a youngster; I would go to my uncles farms for the summer. He had chickens out the yeng-yang. Hatchings were called biddies, and chick poop shoveling; oh my goodness.
Things that I remember;
1/2 gallon water jars thought the chicken houses; 25-30 per house
feed thrown by hand
feed in the bins
remember when we put in the food conveyor
remember when we put in the water conveyor
remember the vet would come and catch up a chicken; cut him open alive and check the heart.
remember having no other fowl on the property: diseases
remember carrying the dead to a 55gal can beside the road; for the vet daily
remember trying to keep them cool
remember trying to keep them warm
Remember scooping the poop

Wow many yesteryears have past and the fond memorys

Rosie's Chicks. a clucking you will go

keep us informed
