David Carradine

Quote:
LP: Laurie Anderson used to say that the best way to be safe on a plane was to always carry a bomb with you. Because the odds of there being a bomb on the plane are very small, but the odds of there being two are astronomical.

DC: (laughs) Yeah, but by doing it deliberately, you’re changing the odds. That’s the problem with that. You know the gun control freaks? I heard this lady who was an aide to a senator in Washington, DC say she’s afraid to walk through the park. “However,” she says, “if it was legal to carry a concealed weapon, muggers would not approach me. They see me now, and they know <censored> well the way I’m dressed, there’s no way I’d be doing anything illegal.” But if it was legal to carry a concealed weapon, they’d think she might have one in her purse. She’s a pretty girl walking through the park, she’s got to protect herself. And it’s legal for her to do so, so the mugger thinks “I don’t think I’ll do this.” And I know in South Carolina, you can carry a gun any <censored> place, and they don’t have rapes there. In England, where nobody has a gun, the rape rate is twice as high as it is in any city in the United States. I’m not trying to be Charlton Heston or anything, but the fact is that anything we try and solve or fix is for some reason presented with false statistics. You know the thing about kids killing themselves with guns? In 1947, there were like 20 of these kinds of deaths per 100,000 people. And today, when everybody’s got a gun, except in New York, the average is actually lower by like 50 percent. And there’s a lot more guns. There’s millions and millions and millions of guns now. It seems like when there are guns around, kids are less likely to be stupid with them because they know how to use them. I don’t know about these Columbine kind of things; that’s a bit different. But it seems like every one of those incidents is committed by somebody who’s on Prozac. Which is supposed to make you calmer, but it’s come out in the newspapers now that they’ve found that taking Prozac can make you homicidal and suicidal. And they say “we’re going to keep prescribing it anyway, because those are acceptable losses.” What the <censored> kind of a world do we live in? What the <censored> is an “acceptable loss”?
"<censored>" is from me for this post.

Something seems funny about this list. Robert Blake? um He murdered his wife with a gun. Kurt Cobain? He's dead ...suicide. Sara Brady pro gun? Are you kidding me? Who is Rosie O' Donut? Isn't that just a humorous reference to Rosie o' Donnell? No way is that big mouth pro gun. I realize some on the list are definately pro gun, but these others?

I believe that Sara Brady, the very advocate of the Brady Bill, was caught carrying illegally in 2002.

Quote:
"I can't describe how I felt when I picked up that rifle, loaded it into my little car and drove home," she writes. "It seemed so incredibly strange: Sarah Brady, of all people, packing heat."
According to her book, the store ran federal Brady Law and state background checks with much ado. But the book suggests she did not have her son checked, as required by Delaware law.

Rosie O'Doughnut hires men armed with guns to keep the hoi polli at bay.

<edit> ok it wasn't an illegal carry it was an illegal straw-deal purchase for her son. </edit>

Personally, I don't really care what celebrities think. Many people in the U.S. look to them for guidance and trends, but I think they are prime examples of what not to do.

You've got a point there.

A buddy of mine put a .38 snub nose S&W in William S. Burroughs coffin. They were very close friends.

With very few exceptions you are exactly right.

Several of those folks are dead. Rosie O'Donut is the reason that K-Mart no longer sales guns, if I remember right.

THose are the ones I picked up on as well. We can pass without Robert Blake and Cobain endorsements. I know Estrada made a movie that guns were so outlawed in the year 2020 that even the police couldn't use them.

Also the biggest womens supporter Sara Palin isn't on the list.
