Ordered a new Beretta 84FS Cheetah Monday morning. It came in yesterday afternoon and I picked it up at my LGS this morning. Haven't had a chance to try it yet; hopefully will get out to my son's place this weekend and give it a workout. It looks and feels great. Here's a picture of it, fresh out of the box and not even cleaned up yet.

It sure is pretty. Let everyone know how it fires... getting one has been in the back of my mind, so I'd like to know.

Hi guys,

It's a .380 and yup, 'tis a compact. Feels great in the hand, will let you know how it performs the first of the week weather permitting.

I've heard good things about those compact .380 Berettas, Raven. Should make a nice little carry gun for you. I have a Sig P-230 in that caliber that I carry fairly often. With good ammo (I use Federal Hydra Shoks), I certainly don't feel underarmed.

Sorry for the delay - finally got a half decent day and took the Cheetah out to my son's where he has a small range out back. It performed just as I suspected a Beretta would - beautifully. Very smooth; lets you know it's there when you fire it, but nothing terrible. Accuracy was very good for a compact; (much better when my Son was firing it!

All in all, I'm very pleased with it.

I own one, it is a trade-in from the Indiana State Police and has their logo on the grips which I think makes it extra cool. It is very handy, nice to shoot and perfectly reliable. I was carrying it today as my concealed carry weapon. I know you will continue to like yours, it is a great looking piece.

I am really concideringthe Cheetah, but is .380 strong enough for a carry?

It's a very good gun. In Italy the Revenue Guard (here is a military Corp) still has it in use for daily duty. With a Beretta gun is difficult (rare) have troubles.

I've got one and it's one of the best pistols I have. Very accurate and has never failed on me in any way. I put some nice Pachmayr grips on mine.

I have your gun's brother (sister?), a Browning BDA also made by Beretta. I've wanted one since the 90's. Mine is nickel with wood grips. Only difference is the decocker, one frame mounted and one slide mounted. Perfect pistol (except the .380 part). Nobody seems to make custom grips for the Browning, tried all over the net. Tho almost identical, the Cheetah grips won't fit the Browning BDA.

Pachmayr has two kinds of rubber grips for the Browning BDA. The Model 02437 are wrap around style with backstrap like I have and the Model 05108 are slip-on style.

Yes, I know about the Hogue and Pachmayrs, but what I meant by custom grips would be like ivory micarta, half checkered, something like that. The Browning (possibly the Cheeta also) being a staggered column mag, has a thick grip. The Browning factory grips are smooth wood and I don't feel a lot of control with them. But, other than the rubber type grips there isn't a selection. One grip maker I contacted said he would take it on, but I would have to mail him my factory grips, pay the $80 up front, and couldn't give a definite date of completion.

Yes. It's what I carry.

There are options that will give you more stopping power than the .380 ACP, but there isn't a gun in the world that has more firepower for its size than the pocket .380s that have become available in the last few years.

I carry it too. At work I carry a Kel-tec P3AT (.380) in a pocket holster in my kakhi pants. I spend most of my day out in the field doing repairs at customers homes. My boss is OK with it, and I have a CCW permit, but probably a few people would have a problem with me carrying on their property so concealment is absolutely required.
I like it so much that I still carry this pistol after hours when I am wearing jeans and I carry my Glock 29 10mm auto.
