recession over??? - The Firearms Forum

I heard on the network news that some of the finiacial wizards claim that the recession is over. are they kidding me? it don't take a genius to see that unemployment is running rampant with people losing jobs everyday and consumer confidence at an all time low. how in the world can anyone claim the american recession is over? I think it is a just a ploy to get folks to go out and spend (if they have anything to spend) and hopefully get deeper in debt so they will be forever indebted to the banks. i'm suprised that i did not see the government's almighty printing press still cranking out money to spend for some more worthless projects or pork. i just don't believe for a second that the recession is over or even beginning to be over. more socialistic talk, IMO.

Keep both barrels loaded!

It's the stock market that they are using in their claims about the economy.
The market started to sink BEFORE people were getting laid off, making a slow decline for a year before BO's election and a radical drop afterward. What the market does is kind of a leading indicator. The market has been rising pretty consistently for the last six months now, and many economists now feel that the DECLINE is over, and we are into the recovery phase. Employment will follow the market.
IMHO, they are right; when I see the DOW rise from a low of the mid six thousands to the present mid nine thousands, I see a 50% gain from the bottom and conclude that the worst is over, and we are into recovery.
Does that mean everyone will return to work tomorrow?
No.
But the employment WILL follow the market in time.

Just for the record -
It is my opinion that this rise is due to NONE of the grandiose gifts to industry hawked by BO, but rather it is in SPITE of them.

If these clowns get a socialized medical plan passed though, all bets are off as the entire insurance, drug, hospital, medical, etc. industries go into melt down.

Oh man, you know it. And it's a lot closer than we think. In fact, for a lot of things it's already here. Food is still way up, ammo is still way up, gas is still way up. All due to the destruction of the dollar. Began under Bush, and Obama will finish it. Blame lies at the feet of Congress as well -- ALL members.

I'm all for voting any and all incumbents OUT.

When they started using interest rates to control economy, we began a false economy. We need to let the free
market set the economy. Painful, but would balance out.

There is no way its over, the worse is probably yet to come. Its simple. I am 53, there are three times as many people on this planet as when I was born. It's not big enough and there isnt enough to go round. Something had to give somewhere.

Wonder how much unsupported money has been pumped into the economy in the last year and a half. That used to be reported monthly but in a cost cutting move they stopped reporting that a few year ago. China dumped 3% of its dollar holdings in Aug. Wonder how much they will dump now that Obama has imposed a tariff on tires imported from China. Does the term Economic Warfare ring a bell? We could win an economic war against most African nations and Hatti but with China Holding half our foreign debt, we might fair poorly given the mismanagement of our economy by our Govt.
