Yes, I have a few in mind. As this is the open forum, I'm allowed.
![]() How is it that an animal knows when yer looking at it? They have no concept of eyes or how they function, yet they know. ![]() I've never seen a cat in my life that will look in a mirror. I dare ANYONE to prove me otherwise. They simply WON'T. So how do they know when we're looking at them? ![]() If a cat sees another looking at prey, they will lock onto it like a guided missile. How do they know?

My cat looks in the mirror. I think it is the same as you and me. We know when we are being looked at.

I've never had a cat that would do that. Even when its head was held and pointed. ![]()

You cat didn't do it because you wanted it too.
My cats look in the mirror. When I started heading home from my trip to Calie my dog sat at the front door till I came home. Even slept there that night. They have better hearing smell and eye sight so they hear/smell/see you doing it. |

My cat will jump on my desk and sit next to me while I type. The next thing I know he is adoring himself in the mirror. He knows it's himself. If I try to get him to look he won't.

Both of my cats lay in front of a floor length mirror, and watch everything going on in the room.
The two dogs could care less. Quote:

Cats? When prepared correctly they taste like chicken

Animals have what we call the sixth sense. Humans have it to, although we've suppressed it thru time. Purely survival instinct. It's important to know what's might be sizing you up for dinner. We're not so highly evolved as we imagine. We still got it!

Then what does chicken taste like ? Anytime you mention an odd food someone will say .... "It tastes like chicken" .

I think it's called survival of the fittest. If you don't pay attention you don't survive. Animals live much closer to the world of survival than we humans do. It's a natural instinct for them, but not so much for us. Situational awarness is something we have to work at, animals just live in it.

Aligator tastes kind of like chicken. That is what they feed them at the park. Consistency is like pork.

we have 4 cats. 3 will do everything possible not to look in a mirror, but one sets and admires himself in the full length mirror in the bathroom.

cats who will look in a mirror are "Alphas" confidant in themselves and not worried about meeting another cat who may be more "Alpha" than themselves. Cat who wont look into a mirror have condifidance issues and submit to a "Alpha" car quickly. they know they are not in control of their enviroment.

i don't know how they can tell, but if you look away from them they seem to chill a little and not get as stressed... that is what i have seen with deer, if you stare at them they get nervous and will likely run off, but if you don't look directly at them or away they will settle down some...
