I just bought a S&W 442 .38 Spl +P. I will sometimes carry it and my wife will sometimes carry it. I've heard the 158gr SWC is the best defensive round for someone who is recoil sensitive, like my wife, and carries a snubbie. Any input on this idea? I don't mind the recoil so I also need input on good defensive +P ammo. I've been carrying a commander size 9mm auto but would like to carry something lighter.

you are bound to get various answers to this question as i'm sure most will have a opinion on their favorite load. your choice of 158 gr swc is a good choice but there are better.rather than bore you with my idea of a perfect load for the 38 special i invite you to go to www.mouseguns.com there is tons of good information. they list the best loads for each popular caliber. from 22 lr up to 44 mag. check out the ammo section.

If I carried a revolver such as this, I would seriously consider the Speer GD SB 135: http://www.speer-ammo.com/products/short_brl.aspx.
I recently upgraded the Corbon +P on a friend's Smith snubbie to this new Speer round. |
