Not really sure what the deal is. Is this you shooting? I mean, while its not too bad to hit the plate at that distance, its not what I would call amazing. But, how about clarifying whether its you or you just thought it was great shooting and wanted us to see it. Thanks.

I'm amazed at your mastery of the English language

Yea, OK Tango... I group nice groups at 40 yards with my 1911s quite often. I am not as good as I used to be since I am a bit shakier in my old age, but I can still group at that distance no problem. I used to ring steel targets at 100 yards with pistols too.

Now that is realistic and is pretty much my story. Anymore I can still hit a target at 100 yards, but my misses are more and my draw back is my sight. I just got new seeing glasses for the first time so we will see how I do. Dang, getting old sucks. Also, the video won't play for me. I guess I won't see anything amazing this morning.

Now do it with one hand at 100 yards.
Then switch hands and do it again. Than you can call me amazed. ![]()

Hey welcome to the forum ShooterBoy. Seems we have been coming down pretty hard on you. If I understand your video you are a new shooter only one week into shooting. You got 5 out of 10 shots on the plate at 37 yards While that may not rank as amazing I will say it is respectable for a new shooter. Some of the Old Guys I shoot with may not be able to do any better but none of us would rank as good pistol shots. What pistol were you shooting?

Yeah, whatever haters. That was like my 4th time shooting, and I'm mega proud of those shots. You're not going to rain on this dude's parade; I was happier 'n hell to consistently hit the target every time I backed further up. At 43 feet my grouping is more solid, but if you look at the perspective, the grouping in that video was the size of a side portion on a paper dinner plate.

The main thing is, you are shooting and you enjoyed yourself. Keep it up, you'll only get better. Didn't realize you were new at this......then it is pretty good!

.5 is half of a whole. It's signifying that I hit half of my 10 bullets.

Well, todd51 has already welcomed you to TFF, so I can skip that formality.
You have come to a place frequented by many persons with significant expertise in many aspects related to firearms and other subjects; but who are still learning. There are also those here with little current expertise; but who have a sincere desire to learn. Both groups are well tolerated here. It seems some persons here are not well taken by your seemingly misplaced arrogance. For myself, I live much of my life by the principles of the Dokkodo (with the exception of the pursuit of women and exotic food for amusement) and, thus, tend to tell it like it is, and let others deal with my comments as they wish. {Wiki link to Dokkodo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dokk%C5%8Dd%C5%8D A lot of books have been written, and YouTube videos have been posted, on the subject of handgun marksmanship and self-defense. A few such works are very good and useful, many are "so - so", like you current marksmanship skills, and some of these works are authored by persons who do not know what they are talking about. Taking your words as I understand them, you had no firearms training or experience until a week before you posted your skills in your YouTube video. If this is correct, you are doing quite well; but you target tells me things that you likely do not understand, or you would hit with almost every shot. You are not likely to improve much, quickly; until you come to understand "100 easy; one difficult". Your video skills are about what I expect to see within about two hours of instruction for a person with no previous firearms knowledge or experience; and who is a well coordinated, athletic person, and who can understand concepts, follow instructions, and put them into practice. Here is a link to an excellent book that will cost you about $10.00 as a computer download or about $30.00 delivered in paperback form. If you are serious about becoming an Expert to Master level marksman; it will be money well spent. Link; http://www.amazon.com/Practical-Shoo.../dp/0962692506 Good luck. There are several competitive handgun competitive games commonly played in the USA.
The oldest and slowest is Bullseye at about 100 years age in its basic current form. http://www.odcmp.com/NM.htm PPC stems from the old FBI 1930's "Practical Pistol Course" http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m.../ai_n56222808/ Then there is Metallic Silhouette out to ranges of typically 220 yards. Then there are the "fast and furious" relatively close range combat simulation games like IPSC, IDPA, and Cowboy Action Shooting. Getting back to basic marksmanship standards. The handgun is commonly fired at paper targets for record at distances of 4 to 50 yards, today; without any external support in the one hand, standing position; a really impressive shooter (Master level) will only rarely miss the 8" black of the "B6" target, and average putting over half of his/her shots in (or touching) the 3.36" Ten value ring, using both .22 and .45 Auto pistols. Again, good luck, and get the B. Enos book, and study it. Handguns are not hard to learn to shoot well; but no one was ever born knowing how to shoot one; and few persons are willing to make the necessary effort, take the time to engage in the disciplined study and practice necessary to become a really top level shot.
