Angry 1873 Colt SAA

I have contacted Colt archives about a 1873 Colt SAA .45 5 1/2 barrel, nickel plated, Serial #12314. They responded that they have no records about this gun or if it came back for rework. All of the serial # match. Anyone have any ideas as to how I could find something about the value of this gun ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

value could not be determined unless condition is first determined.

Colt 12314 was made in 1874. That early it should be a government gun. Blue, 7 1/2" barrel. Something ain't kosher.

All Colt SAA's of that time should have 7 1/2" barrels; most would have military markings.

Many early Colts were refurbished by Colt or Springfield Armory and had their barrels reduced to 5 1/2". The first lot retained matching numbers.

The presence of military markings, military finish, and military grips should tell if that gun was one of those.

An original SAA Colt of that era would be very valuable. GOOD pictures are definitely needed, not blurry hand-held cell phone pics.
