U. S. Carbine - .30 caliber M1 by Rockola and Inland MFG Div. General Motors with 1964 DCM sale papers. Serial number 4574977. All parts appear to be original. Declared unservicable, as in condition, but safe to fire conventional ammunition. Also would like manufacture date, if possible. Thanks

Hi there!
I am certain it's the M1A1 that comes with the folding stock. My carbine is of the first design developed by Winchester, and adopted by U.S. services in October of 1941. As well, mine hasn't got the selector switch that was standard on the M2 and the sniperscoped M3. My carbine was manufactured in Jan - Mar. 1944, and was purchased by my father though the NRA from Red River Arsenal, Texarkana, Texas. Although, gov't approved for shooting, and the stock is sound, this gun has seen the hell of war. I hope I've been of some help to you. The Best, Ron |
