Just bought a Glock 22 online, only saw pics of it , bought it because i think I made a good deal. Guy says he bought it in or around 2001, only shot a few hundred rounds ??? and needs the money. Gun , original box, plus 10 boxes of Federal tactical ammo, $500.00. Question is , is it a first generation or second , waiting for the paperwork ( 5 to 10 working days up here). Can we tell by the pics?
Sorry if there is already a thread on here about this but haven't seen it

It's a second Gen.

I can't quite make out the 3 letter prefix on the serial number. C? R or maybe P?
Anyway---with the 3 prefix letters you can determine month and year of manufacture.

I have a list of prefix's in a reference book that covers up to 1999.
Glocktalk.com has a ongoing research database for Glock serial number
prefix information. Glock used the letter code in front of the serial
number as a date code on standard production guns. What makes it fun
is that on special order guns--commemoratives and police dept guns etc.---
they replace the date code with a code for the special run guns.
