Default Western Field DOM?

My stepdad came by the other day while I was messi'n with the Mauser and he told me he had a few shotguns in his closet that's been there for YEARS.

I mentioned they need a good going over and cleaned. (he hadnt touched them in years!)
Anyway, he brought them out (havent looked at the other two single shot's "yet") and I took the Double Barreled 12 ga Western Field and in the process of getting it looking good.
For my own information to add to my info on guns, I was wondering the year of manufacture? (he's 82 years old and said he bought it new and hunted with it while he was younger)
The Serial # is C356XX

Appricate any help!

EDIT: The insides of the gun and barrel are in decent shape, he had rags over the ends of the barrels.

Looks like a rebadged Stevens 311 to me.....they were made from 1931 to 1988. There MIGHT be a date code somewhere on the gun if it was made after 1949....a letter in an oval/circle.

A- 1949
B-1950

And so on.

Take the forend off and look on the underside of the barrel, near the hinge.

Thanks august..... on the bottom of the "reciever" there is a, what sure looks like an 8 in a circle, but it must be a "B".
