Well, yes I’m "new" to these forums but I find it irrelevant when I post something that touched me, and I’m sure others, about being patriotic for the country I love. Maybe I posted the video in the wrong sub section and if I did, I apologize.
My intention for posting the video was to inspire patriotism to others of this beloved nation as it did me. The words the man sung are minor compared to the reaction he got. That's what struck me, all those people standing, removing there hats, and covering their hearts. True patriots are far and few between these days and it saddens me to see the country go to hell that several of my close relatives, and scores of my forefathers died for. I wish everyone, no matter there beliefs, would wake the hell up instead of arguing on a forums turn this country around. Is anyone arguing the dire straights the United States are in? |

Cool it a bit, OG -
We have several factors involved here. First, there are those that want to find the TRUE Religious history of our nation. Second, we have those that are Atheists, Muslims, etc., who want to HIDE the true religious history of our nation. Third, we have those that want to look at folks who plainly identify themselves as Christians, and make their own declarations about whether or not these are REALLY Christians. We need more of group one and less of group two and three.

Correction noted and I take back the Commie remark. You can see why your remark struck me as extremely left wing liberal wrong and misleading. I have heard that same comment from so many others trying to justify their false premise that the Constitution has the separation of church and state as one of its clauses and therefore it is law. It's hard to argue the contents of the constitution with somebody that has never read it, and does not know his American history. I get so tired of hearing the same oft repeated falsehoods that I have lost my sense of humor on the subject.

Just a bit of an update on Washington. An interesting fact I learned from the video I posted earlier; As president, Washington did attend an Episcopal church, but at the monthly communion service Washington always got up and left the church prior to communion being served. This was such a conspicuous act that he was admonished by his pastor for it.
I think this may have given rise to the rumor that he was a deist and not a true Christian. However, a little known fact is that when he was dying a preist was summoned to his death bed and he was baptized a Roman Catholic. It may very well have been that Washington was a Catholic believer all along but attended protestant services for his families sake and because it was politically expedient. Remember it wasn't until Kennedy that we had a Roman Catholic president.

Great reason to hang onto old textbooks. I'm a bit of a packrat, so probably have one or two lying around. Mom was a teacher so had a number of resources.
