I remove the primer and size the case before I clean the brass. When do you all remove the primer and resize? The reason I do it before is so the brass will be clean with no lubricant left inside or outside so they look like new when I load.

The main reason I don't is because I use the Dillon 550B and that break in sequence defeats the cycle and efficiency when you're doing a few hundered at once. I also use a lube that isn't sticky, and the only part inside the case that should get lubed is the case mouth. If you use a bench-mounted case mouth brush there should be no problem at all.
That said, I like bright, shiney brass too. ![]() Latigo

I only reload .45 ACP rounds, but I always clean (vibratory tumbler), then de-prime them. That way I'm not pushing all the crud from the outside of the brass into the die. That' s just my preference. I suppose either way works.

I generally don't tumble after de-priming. I find that with certain brass, the media loves to get stuck in the primer pockets. Sometimes I do when the brass get's dirty again. Usually a whole lot of tossing the brass in the sifter will get most of the media out in the stuck pockets. Think of flipping an omelete.

I tumble first, then de-prime, and size. Makes it eaiser, media don't get into the primer pocket. I don't use lube at all, bought me some of them new carbide dies!

I remove after, keeps the flash hole cleaner in my opinion. Easier on the decapping pin.

Gotta agree with that, if I was worried about the case being clean inside and out from case lube, I'd tumble twice; but for me, I'm not that worried about it. Gotta take care of the dies; the cleaner the brass, the less friction and wear on them.

I done it both ways. Some of the media does clog the primer hole. But I tested the "WHAT IF THING", I picked out 10 cases that had media in the flash hole. All 10 fired. Not one dud. The primer is very powerful.

I use a single stage press and de-cap then tumble. After the tumbler they all get wiped off then sized, then trimmed if needed, then the primer pocket gets a brushing and the flash hole de-burred if they haven't already been done. then on with priming. I know it's a lot of extra work but I can be fussy.
