Years in the reign of King Barack Obama that is. I know, it's January 19 today and the anniversary of the Inauguration is not until tomorrow but I really wanted to bestow upon myself the honor of originating the thread commiserating this important event. Ooops! Did I say 'commiserating'? Ha! Ha! I meant commemorating! Silly me! Anyhow it has been a year since The One has taken office and we do well to consider it. I hoped for the best and feared the worst and I have seen neither come to pass. I hoped President Obama would move to the center and govern from there, he certainly hinted he would, but he certainly has not. On the other hand, we still have our guns, some have more than before, present company included, having participated in the Great Obama Panic Buy. Some of us have lost our jobs, and we are all a lot deeper in debt, the national debt that is, the one our grandchildren get to pay, with interest. The world loves us now, it is debatable whether they respect us as much as before but they certainly don't fear us any more. I'd personally rather have bad people fear me than love me. Your thoughts?

I also would much rather other countries fear us than love us, when your adversary has a healthy fear of you they are not quite sure what you will do and what you are capable of doing. I also think that this great country we live in is no longer respected like it once was. This lack of respect is evident in a large portion of the people who even live in the USA so if the populace of this nation has little respect for it how can we expect other nations to respect us. Just my 2 cents worth
