Default target shooting causes utah fire

watching fox news and they're saying the utah wildfire was caused by someone target shooting and the round hit a rock, caused a spark, and started the wildfire. 10th blaze attributed to target shooting this year. I like fox but, wtf? far as I know, lead doesn't spark. or am I ignorant again?

It could happen, but hard to prove that was the reason IMO.

only way a fire starts with bullets is if they are tracers.

We had a big shoot here by my house last Saturday.....I had to make sure nobody used tracers...LOL. Now that was a fire hazard.

I bet my brother and I shot about 300 of my 45 reloads. I finally got to open up my AR10 too............that's a mean beast, but it paled in comparison to the 338 Lapua my buddy brought.

Your Mosin surplus is steel cored, I've had it spark before hitting a rock, but it'd have to be just right to actually start a fire. I call BS on the so-called statistics, I read about all the fires and have yet to see one that a RESPONSIBLE news media attributes to target shooting. Now target SHOOTERS is another thing, campers have a long history of lighting campfires when the conditions are ripe for wildfires and either leaving them unattended or the like. I don't believe much of what the news says anyways, they always put a spin on it to try and drive up ratings.

I don't buy it myself. I heard this on the news. Sounds like anti gun propaganda.
