Default Info on 38+p

Just need some info on the difference between a standard 38 special load and the 38+p ammo. I think it has something to do with the powder charge but I could use some help from a more experienced source.
Thanx

.38 Special Plus P is approximately 10 percent higher pressure than the standard load. There isn't a SAAMI standard for Plus P Plus.

Ditto !

On a side note, there is absolutely no difference in the case dimensions between the 38 and the 38+P, only headstamp difference to distinguish the hotter load.

Magtech 38 Special - 158 gr SJHP

Muzzle Velocity (fps) 807

Muzzle Energy (ft lbs) 229

Magtech 38 Special - +P 158 gr SJSP

Muzzle Velocity (fps) 890

Muzzle Energy (ft lbs) 278

The difference between the .38 special, and the .38 special +P. Different ammo manufactures will vary, but you get the idea. The +P is a hotter round, and is better suited to one shot stops. +P ammo should not be shot in .38 special pistols that are not designed for it.
