Thanks Dems.
President Obama said in a statement that the plan "will help preserve the free and open nature of the Internet while encouraging innovation, protecting consumer choice, and defending free speech."

I wonder if that will preserve free speech in the same way that the fairness doctrine did for broadcast media. Thankfully those regs were done away with, but for how long?

You know, they are slowly but surely covering all the bases, carefully addressing every issue, then steadily squeezing every ounce of liberty out of the American citizen. And we let it happen...over and over.

I think a lot of it is because they want to be able to tax sales done over the internet. More money for them to piss away.

Looks like Obama and Chavez are marching to the same drumbeat.

There are a whole lot of lame duck politicians trying to pass as many spite laws as they can before their terms are up. I think Obama too, sees the writing on the wall and will play the spite card for all it's worth.

I think GG has the 'right' of it........

IAV, this new law is being 'sold' as promoting "fairness of treatment"- a purely socialist reaction- to conditions market forces were already at work correcting ! Major providers were made villians in this piece, even though evidence of the government's allegations of collusion is lacking.......But the "spite" GG refers to is hidden !

This law is the opening wedge for the FCC to demand oversight - hence control not only of the providers, but the traffic - which, my friends - is us !! Right now the government has to make some cursory obeisance to our Constitution and law. This law eliminates that impediment !>MW
