Default gun shop

i am considering opening up a gun shop. i cant decide if this is the greatest idea ever, or the worst idea ever. on the one hand, i want to educate the masses and supply them with the firearms they might need. but on the other hand, im afraid that the government might come and shut me down someday due to increased gun regulation which would break me financially. you have to go through hell to get the ffl, so im wondering if i should just start some other business instead. my heart tells me its the right thing to do, but my brain tells me to play it safe. anybody have any startup gunshop stories to share?

No stories to share, but I applaud your efforts, and hope you are able to make a go of it. We need more folks like you.

Some things to consider:

Will you be competing with the big box stores for new gun sales?

Can you offer services that they can't, ie: smithing services

How many gun shops are wiht in 20 miles of you?

How are they doing?

Are you in a gun friendly state or do you have a ton of local regs to deal with?

Food for thought

When starting any business you have to be able to eat the overhead for at least a year.

If you're starting on a shoe string, a gun shop probably isn't the way to go.
