Default Some folks work to play...

Something you don't get to see every day. Our threashing bee last weekend. 26 bottoms of plow behind steamengines!!

And they can pull them to a stop, and start with all the bottoms in the ground. Max torque at 0 RPM...

Regards, Kirk

The poles are actually levers that raise the bottoms when you want to turn around or travel without plowing the ground...

Nice pics Kirk!
I love seeing a lineup of "quiet horsepower" at work like that plowing shot!
I try to hit at least one of the threshing shows in ND or SD every year. I'm about due for a road trip to Rollag MN again some year too...probably some time when they feature "Red Power".

Yeah, pitching bundles isn't easy, and I'd hate to have to harvest the whole crop that way...I still like to pitch in and take a turn on the wagon just for fun though.

Where's this one located at? Looks like it's held out on some guys farm?

Love the pics!

My grandpa used to have a threshing business in the 30's and 40's.....I love hearing my dad tell stories about how they did things back then.

Dad retired from farming in 1994 and has restored a tractor almost every year since he retired.

I should post pics of all his tractors.....we even have my grandpas 1926 Huber.

I have 3 antique tractors of my own.

We've got a Rumley at the show, similar to the Huber. Nick has a Huber, but it is still awaiting a restoration...The Hart Parr above is my Granfathers. We've been told not to restore it, as it is a survivor, and has never sat outside, has been in runable shape all these years, and has alot of original paint.. Collectors say leave the old girl alone...

This show is west of Jefferson Ia., the last weekend of July each year. We have a web site, Will have to get it and post it here, but I don't remember it exactly....

Glad you enjoyed the pic's!

Regards, Kirk
