Default what cartridge do i have?

hi all,

newbi on this forum.a friend of mine gave me a cartridge to find out what it
is and i havent had much luck.hoping someone here can help me out.looks to me to be a reload.rim is .301,straight wall case,base .246,neck .240,o/a case
lenght is 1.155.bullet is .223 soft point.there are some letters on head of case but not too sure what they are. thanks for any help,

If it's a centerfire, straightwall that size, only thing I can think of is 22 Velo Dog.

Picture would help. A lot.

If it is a rim fire maybe a 22WRF?? I haven't measured one.

Back around 1900, bike riding was popular. Bicycles were called velocipedes. Dogs chase bikes. In the time before rabies vaccine, getting bit by some stray on a country road was a bad idea.

Small, folding trigger revolvers were made.


They were called velo dog (velocipede dog). Made for shooting the stray dogs that chased you. They were chambered in various low-powered rounds, including 25 ACP, but one especially was designed for them. The 22 Velo Dog. Also known as the 5.75mm Velo Dog.
