Default Any one here know what this 22 is?

I am now in posession of my fathers old 22 but I have no clue about the bloody thing.

It says on it Kal.22 Lang Fur Buchsen 6860
German IAWAFFEN WERK A.-G. ZELLA-MEHLIS

It also has a brass plate attached to the stock (in the Pic) and a Crown over an 'N' proof mark, the N is in some sort of shield looking emblem with the word Nitro stamped in script besides it.

The medallion points to an award for a competition for the Hiltler Youth.

That's one to hang on to!

I made some trades fer it. The 41 mag and the Glock is no longer in my posession. I traded those two fer this rifle. I figger I traded 800 in for it. This thing is as accurate as the 513 on paper at 100 ft.

How rare are these rifles?

Even if the rifle itself is not rare (which I would say it is), the fact that it appears to have been given as an award in a Hitler Youth competition makes it very rare.

The Hitler Youth rifle school was established in 1937, so this would be an early example.

I have found the Hitlerjugend is Hitler youth, so is this rifle handed out from the youth to the mayor or would it be issued to the indevidule in charge of the youth of the city?

So is this similar to the Mauser 98k Carbine? I don't think the 98k is a .22 though. I thought the 98k was an 8mm military-issue rifle.

Since the plate mentions a sport fest, I would say it would have been presented to the Hitler Youth that won the shooting event, perhaps presented by the town's mayor.

Just a guess.

As far as I know it was a Youth trainer for Hitlers youth Corps. But the plate threw me off big time. I will tell you this though. THat damn little mouser makes my Remington seem like the poor cousin as far as accuracy. It shoots almost as good as the Remington. I was shooting Pecans off the tree in my dads front yard over the weekend. I may have found my new rodent killer for next spring.

v. = von (by or from) - the rifle was presented by the official.
