Default What is my SAKO 85 SM 300 WIN Short Worth??

Hey Guys,

I am new to the forum and am a gun enthusiast. Sadly about a year ago my step father passed away and I inherited a few of his guns. Now please no one think that I am selling a best friend and fathers fun collection, although I do have two guns that he left to me that has no sentimental importance to me.

The gun I am curious about, he bought a little while back and put it in his gun case and never even shot it. The gun that means everything to me is actually a Remington 30 - 06. So I want to put a feeler out there and see what this setup is worth.

It is a MINT MINT MINT

Gun:

SAKO 85 SM 300 WIN SHORT

Scope:

Swarovski 2,5 - 10x56 Habicht

I am very curious if I were to sell today, what would the setup be worth? I really appreciate everyones help. I am going to create a new posting with the second gun I am curious about, as it is a shotgun.

Thank you,

I would think that you would get in the $2800-2900 range for the set-up as shown. That is one beautiful work of art.

Welcome to the forum and lookin fwd to hearing about the others also.

Woolley

Wow that is awesome. I had an offer today for $1600 on it, but I really thought the guy was trying to low ball me. Where do you think the best place to sell is?

Yes, that was a lowball and a half. Scope is worth almost $2k new and rifle is $1500-1600 new. ( keep in mind that these are approx retail prices )

Best bet is to post it in the local newspaper or depending on where you're at, try posting an ad at the local gun range.

Stick around here and get to know the forum and then post it up in the WTS forum. If I had the funds to blow right now, I'd take a look at it if you were local.

One more question: With a gun like this, would it benefit to hold it for a while? Or is the value going to drop over time?

That's the key to selling on any forum; most guys aren't going to be interested in dealing with someone out of state unless they've got a feel for them. Locally, well, thats a little different since we could do a FTF and then get a hands on look at everything.

Guy that posted up an AR yesterday, got all sorts of pissy because his one and only post was trying to sell a gun and he had NO addt'l info.... had no idea where he was at or anything and he wondered why he got no replies and then had his post removed. We're a darn good group of guys n gals here, so feel free to get to know us and post it up when you're ready. Make sure you read all the rules at the top of the forum, they're brief and pretty simple.

You've already got lesson one down pat....... When talking about a certain gun, it's common courtesy to post a pic !! We're nutz about gun porn around here !

Semper Fi,

Woolley

The Sako and optics will not lose any value given proper care and storage. If you want to go hunting, then by all means hang on to it an use it. You've got very high end goods there. If you're not intending to use it, then set your price and hold out until you get it. You may want to do some comparisons on some of the gun auction sites and try to pinpoint a fair price based on what is happening in today's market.
I don't think I'll ever buy a new Swarovski or Zeiss, just because I'm a cheapskate and I don't intend to shoot anything past 500 yards to need that kind of quality. But it sure is nice to look at !

There'll probably be a few more inputs on this rifle before too long also; so you'll have some more info to go on.

Hey Woolleyworm,

I posted a Remington shotgun on the same forum. You should take a peak at it for me and tell me what you think. It surely isn't as sexy as the Sako, but still nice none the less.
