Default Anyone getting an error message?

We've received an email from a member saying he gets the following error message when he tries to make a post:

"In order to accept POST request originating from this domain, the admin must add this domain to the whitelist."

Let us know if you are receiving this message. I'd like to determine whether it's an isolated circumstance or if it's more widespread.

If the error prevents you from replying to this thread, send an email to support@thefirearmsforum.com

I've been posting all day. No problems. SoMo, could it be a former member who was banned for some reason? It kinda sounds like the domain he's posting from was locked out. Either that or his own administrator has incorporated some internal locks. Just a thought . . .

Definitely not a banned member. And my first thought was the same as yours, that the problem was on his end. But I've been doing some searches and have come across folks on other forums who are getting this message as it relates to the forum software, so I'm trying to determine exactly what is the cause.

SoMo, if we get an error message that says, "I am a 30 second bomb; 29, 28, 27, 26 . . ." should we report it?

No, just pick up your computer and throw it as far away as you can.

Actually, PS, I would be more concerned if I was you that those sequence of words just MIGHT have been picked up by NSA scanners and somebody in a dark suit is right now rousting a judge away from his turkey to try and get a warrant to begin the wiretaps...

There isn't a Utility van that says "Joe's Plumbing" with smoked windows and a lot of antennas on the top parked out front of your house, by any chance...is there?????

Mine is "Hit Any key to continue...."

I always have to shut down and reboot because my PC doesn't HAVE an "Any Key" I can find ANYWHERE....

It must be caused by a very specific set of circumstances, since only one member has reported the problem. We haven't heard back from him yet to see whether we've cleared it up (he's probably spending time with family), but hopefully we have everything straightened out now.

Actually, I stole that one from an old guy named Ralph at rehab...him and I are about the only ones there at 7:00 am besides the nurses...

Wednesday, after they hooked me up to the wireless ekg monitor, they couldn't get it to work, I was "flatlining" on the computer screen, to which him and I tag teamed the nurses (Should we call the 'Code Blue' NOW? Where DO you keep the defib around here...?)

To which THEY responded by ripping a few of the sticky things off my chest over and over again until they figured out it was the damm COMPUTER and not a loose ground wire on me or anything....

After that it was our turn again, (No WONDER this hospital is in the red, and health care costs are so high, 6 count 'em SIX highly paid RNs standing around looking at a computer screen with dumb looks on their faces....Now it's more like Government work, ONE actually doing something, even if only calling IT, then fiddling with cords underneath while the others watch HER....Hey Judy, THAT'S not a computer, that's a COPIER....)

After the excitement was over and the PC was fixed, Ralph and I started reminiscing about how we even managed to live BEFORE computers...

And he told me THAT story....said he took a computer class on his own right after they became available for general use, YEARS ago..and after the 4th class they were supposed to have access to their own PC, either buy one, rent one, or borrow one...so he went out and bought one...and setting it up he got that message....and it stumped him.

And he then claimed that the next day in class he actually raised his hand and in all seriousness asked the instructor which key was the "Any Key...."

....and got abused by the whole class the rest of the semester....

It was too good NOT to Pirate....SORRY!

SoMo, you might get a kick out of this . . .

Q: How many Microsoft testers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: We just noticed the room was dark; we don't actually fix the problems.
Q: How many Windows programmers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: 472. One to write WinGetLightBulbHandle, one to write WinQueryStatusLightBulb, one to write WinGetLightSwitchHandle...

Q: How many Microsoft managers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: We've formed a task force to study the problem of why light bulbs burn out, and figure out what, exactly, we as supervisors can do to make the bulbs work smarter, not harder.

Q: How many Microsoft support technicians does it take to change a light bulb?
A: We have an exact copy of the light bulb here, and it seems to be working fine. Can you tell me what kind of system you have? Ok. Now, exactly how dark is it? Ok, there could be four or five things wrong ... have you tried the light switch?

Q: How many Microsoft technicians does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Three: two holding the ladder and one to screw the bulb into a faucet.

Q: How many Microsoft vice presidents does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Eight: one to work the bulb and seven to make sure Microsoft gets $2 for every light bulb ever changed anywhere in the world.

Q: How many Microsoft developers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: The light bulb works fine on the system in my office ...

Q: How many Windows users does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: One, but he'll swear up and down that it was JUST as easy for him as it would be for a Macintosh user.

Q: How many Microsoft engineers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None, Bill Gates will just redefine Darkness(tm) as the new industry standard.

Then there was the Microsoft Engineer trying out for the US Shooting Team. He fired about a 100 rounds and not one hit the target.

Looking thoughtful, he put his finger over the barrel, pulled the trigger, and blew his finger off.

He yelled down range, "Everything is fine here, the problem is on your end!"

People laugh, but you would not believe the number of support calls I have resolved by "Is it turned on/plugged in/is there power?"

My famous one involved a site wide outage, after 30 minutes of troubleshooting, I asked the person on the other end to check the cabling, his response "Sure, let me get the flashlight because the ice storm took out our power". I asked why he was trying to bring the system up during an power outage. The reason was simple, the manager wanted to know why nothing was running and the power outage was not a valid excuse.

LOL! I don't doubt it, cec. My son was an electronics tech in the Navy and he has told me several stories about "broken" equipment, that when he got up from a warm bunk to fix it, usually in the middle of the night, it turned out that the only problem, as he put it, was that "the O-N/O-F-F discriminator switch was in the O-F-F position!
