Default VCI emitters and ammo

What are the advantages or disadvantages of storing ammo with VCI emitters in the containers?

We have them at work but I have never used them, yet.Im not sure if they can or will affect the ammo components. I do use the desiccant paks in my ammo cans.
Im sure there is a Chemical eng that will respond to this question. I'll try to ask at work in the mean time.

Personally, I have never given it any thought. I have ammo on hand that is several years old, and it still works fine. If I were storing it in an outside building, or anywhere that was not climite controled, I would surely use something. I think that in the home there would be no need unless you are looking at really long term storage, say decades.

Lamentations Chapter 5:
1. Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach.
2. Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.
3. We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers [are] as widows.
5. Our necks [are] under persecution: we labour, [and] have no rest.
16. The crown is fallen [from] our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!
21. Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.

Sorry I have not gotten back
Thanks for the replies
The situation is a friend of mine has decided to store all his gear in a small cabinet ammo and all. Ammo in paper boxes it came in.
My argument is VCI is a vapor much like humidity and could harm primers
