Default Lorenz Karlsruhe 47 or 48 mm shell

Hi, not sure if I am in the right spot...if not let me know
We have a brass, we think, shell and we are trying to date it if possible.
It has raised stamping of Lorenz Karlsruhe and 2 little * type stamps. No other information is stamped on it.
Can someone please help or guide us in the right direction please?

good brass on those common in ww1 on both french and german side's , the US standardised was a 3" gun modified from its naval use to a small field gun

should be marked Bst./Hst. LORENZ + KARLSRUHE + or LORENZ + KARLSRUHE +

actually its french but they bought a lot of these guns from the germans from the 1890's onward they where a fast firing cannon ( the earliest repeating canon )
Bst/Hst is a reference to the stamp marked and where head stamp is Hst..

European small arms of the 19th century has some info and there'd be a number of books on light cannons

this is a updated clone http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/47_mm_APX_anti-tank_gun

and a pic of one from ww1
