Default Maryland AWB revisited!

I saw an article tonight brought to my attention by the NRA/ILA via email.

The first try at the state of Maryland passing a AWB independent of the national AWB was defeated earlier this year. However, two legislators are going to re-introduce this legislation in the General Assembly. Their names are Sen. Robert Garagiola (D-Montgomery coounty) and Delegate Neil Quinton (Howard county).

Montgomery county was one of the areas affected by the "sniper attack" (Malvo & Mohammed),and whose investigation was led by Chief Moose.

Current law allows many rifles known as "assault weapons" to be sold, bought, transferred and kept in possession. If this new attempt is successful it will be the dark ages all over again!

The first attempt was SB 494. It made it a misdemeanor to transport into the state, possess, sell, offer to sell, transfer, purchase,or receive an "assault weapon"!

In addition its also a misdemeanor to use an "assault weapon" OR use of a specific magazine in commission of a felony or crime of violence.

Here are some links that you may find useful. The first link will connect you to the current news about this attack on our rights.

The second link is for the Maryland General Assembly so you can find out who is your legislator if you don't already know.

The third link is a list compiled by the Maryland State Police of the weapons CURRENTLY classified as "assault weapons". If the new laws is passed this WILL BE EXPANDED !

Thanks for the heads up, Mauser. This type information needs to be out there and acted upon constantly.

BTW, the third link is not working.

ZigZag,

Thanks for posting the CURRENT list. These clowns are proposing to restrict PARTS to FIX your weapon in the second proposal too. I forgot to add this. And if you're a gambler its a "sure bet" that the list will grow and G R O W !

Marlin,

Sorry 'bout the third link not workin' for ya. I had tried it before I posted and again right after I saw your post. So far it still works (FOR NOW!).

Hi Mauser.

Both SoMo and I tried several times this morning to no avail. However, after Ziggy posted the list, it worked when I tried it again. Weird, very weird.

You're right, though. These things seem to just grow and grow like the plague. When will people finally realize that people kill people, guns don't????????
