Default Did Red Green own this car???

Follow the link to see the pics, ya can't make this chit up.

Gas line ran from the boat gas tank on the passenger seat, sorry, where seat should be, out the window & under the hood. I'm guessing the window would be his emergency shut off.

State Patrol: Front Seat Gas Tank Fueled 'Unsafe' Car
It runs on alternative fuel source and the driver can see the road in ways most cars don't offer. But you won't be seeing this classic Ford Pinto back on a Minnesota road any time soon.

A Minnesota State Trooper stopped the car Sunday on U.S. Highway 52 in Koochiching County.

A State Patrol spokesperson posted photographs of what the Trooper found on the agency's Facebook page.

"Much of the vehicle was rusted out," said the spokesperson. Photos show a clear view through what remains of the floor to the road below.

But that wasn't all.

A tire was wedged behind the driver's seat, a placement the spokesperson said was holding the seat in place.

The Trooper spotted a gas can on the front seat. A hose ran from the gas can, out the passenger window, around the front and under the hood, "rigged up to the engine," according to the spokesperson.

"The car was impounded and the driver was cited for a number of violations," said the spokesperson.

Those violations included unsafe equipment and not having a Minnesota license.

When you invest as much time and money as Ford owners have - you'll understand why they are so attached. Its like sending a kid to college. When they are completely remade you figure you'll start getting SOME kind of payback on the investment!

Ordinarily I might argue that but this 2000 f150 I have now has been nothing but a money pit, most expensive vehicle to operate I have ever owned. Only reason I keep it is because 1) its paid for and the repairs are cheaper than another payment, and 2) it what I plow my driveway with.

let me get this straight. Minn DOT spreads excessive amounts of salt on the roads costing the taxpayers untold amounts of money. this requires them to spend even more tax money fixing the roads. this also causes severe damage to people's cars. then they have the nerve to call your car unsafe and impound it making you walk to work.

What the problem. Looks fine to me. The guy put the gas tank there so if he was rear ended it wouldn't explode. Every one knows that.

True story. I was about 13 or 14. My Dad drove 60's Mustangs all through my youth as daily driver, cheap transportation. He would buy one for say, $400.00, work on it periodically, drive it for a year or two, and sell it for $600-$800, and start the process all over again. His buddy decides he can make money doing this, and asks my dad to help him bring one home that has been sittting for a year or two in a garage in a rough part of Detroit.

My Dad, his buddy, and my younger brother and I, go to revive and retrieve this car one cold winter day from the the bowells of a run down Detroit neighborhood. The car is partially in grey primer, the rear of the car is smashed halfway to the back seat, and there is no left front fender. The car is purchased by my Dads' buddy anyway. Apparently there is no functioning fuel tank because I am holding a 1/3 gallon Briggs and Stratton fuel tank attached to 6 ft. of rubber hose on the roof of said Mustang with my arm stuck out the window on a 8* day.

My Dad and brother are in the "chase" vehicle, with my younger brother supplying us with gas from a 2 gallon can every 3 miles or so. We finally made it back to the northern suburbs, and we were about 1 1/2 miles from our destination when we were pulled over by a Royal Oak cop. He looked at the non-existant license plate and fender, the partial primer, the smashed rear end and rooftop fuel tank, shook his head and said, "Are you thinking about retiring this beauty?" And not knowing where to begin, he walked away, got in his patrol car, and left.

It looks a lot like the hunting/ fishing/ trapping rig I had when I was 15. It was a 68 volkswagen bug that my brother and I "fixed up" by cutting the top and doors off with a cutting torch.

The first car I ever bought came straight from the wrecking yard. A Pontiac, with a GMC manual truck tansmission in it! No windshield, no floor boards, and nothing worked, but it ran, and it was fast, if you could stay with it long enough to get up the speed! We used 2X4's for a place to put your feet, and the thing burned oil like it was going out of style. We looked like the mosquito sprayer coming down the road. Really, it was so bad I thew the dip stick away, and the rear view mirrors were usless! We bought re-refined oil from Billups in a 5 gal can, and poured it in till the valve covers were full! We drove that thing for months! The cops finally took it away form us!

Didn't Ford recall some Pintos because of explosions when hit it the rear?

I had a VW Super Beetle that had no front passengers floor at all, any riders had to sit in the back or ride with their feet on the dash. I don't see any problem with that Pinto other than the driver not having a license.
