Default Is brown bear ammo in 7.62x39 any good?

Is brown bear ammo in 7.62x39 any good? I've never heard of this brand before. I'm looking at sportsmans guide... they have brown bear and also some 1970's yugoslavian stuff. Not big on ammo that old but the brown bear is current production....

Opinions on Brown Bear?

I think you'll find it to be very similar to other steel-cased, imported ammo (Wolf, Hotshot, etc.). It's perfectly suitable for an AK in my opinion.

They had some yugoslavian stuff from the 70's but i don't wanna mess with that stuff. That's old and it wasn't very good looking stuff...

God, i miss the old days.... I don't know if i remember this right but it seems like i remember being able to buy 1000 rd box of 7.62x39 for $80+ or there about back in the late 80's or early 90's? Oh...why o why... didn't i buy up a pallet of that stuff back then?

Brown Bear, Sliver Bear, Wolf and Wolf Gold are often made in the same factory and the same conditions and behavior apply to all of them. Some of them like the Wolf Gold (I think) have brass washed cases so they look like they're brass cased, but it's the same steel case.

Cheaper than dirt had 7.62 x 39 case of a thousand for $79.99.
Mabe 7 or 8 years ago.
The good old days are gone forever.

And Wolf and other steel cased brands are now going for prices that higher quality bulk ammo was going for about 6 months ago.

I have a hard time paying 35 cents per round for Wolf when I recently spent that on some bulk Federal.

And most of that stuff was Norinco ammo, the stuff with the steel core! Still have almost a whole case of it!

Glocknut - I saw a post in the buy/sale/trade forum a few days ago where someone was selling 1000 rounds, they might still have it!

EDIT: Here is the link: http://www.thefirearmsforum.com/showthread.php?t=59620

ps
i also see that a few things that Midway had in stock is not completely out of stock with NO backorder. Reloading presses are in short supply as well. I think in a way Obama has allready won the fight. He has denied "most" of us access to our hobby....

The two sources I usually use to look for ammo online are...

Gun-Deals.com

and

Ammo Daily

They're not always 100% up to date, but they can point you in the right direction.

i was shooting some wolf ammo today and it was not cycling in my sks it seemed like it was not giving enough power to push the bolt back all the way is this possible? it seemed to work fine with the other ammo i had.
I also have some silver bear ammo back ordered and am wondering if it will have the same problem or is it better I am wondering if i should cancel but i guess i could always sell it if it did not work in my gun.

He Tree, if your sks has a grenade launcher there is a little switch where you can make your gun go only single shot because it blocks the gas from reaching the piston.

BTW , I think the Brown Bear is actually a little better than the wolf.
