I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the quality of Norinco 1911's. Heck...the price is right at about $350 give or take.

I'm looking to get a reliable 1911 for the as little as possible. I don't plan on building on it I'd just like something to take down to the range and shoot. Any brands come to mind?

Norinco is a very well built Colt clone. And yes, it's made in China on Colt dies. The Norinco 1911 is one of the few pistols Wilson Combat will do custom work on.

Would I be better off with a Norinco or a Spingfield?

Both are great 1911's. The Norinco is an exact copy of the Colt USGI pistol only with tighter tolerances. Great for a custom pistol base. The Springfield has a few more modern refinements like a throated barrel better sights and lowered and flaired ejection port (except the USGI version).

The Springfield "loaded" is a good value with all it's custom features. Most likely things you will do to a 1911 later.

So decide what you want to do with your new 1911. Target shooting, competition ,plinking or carry with hollowpoint ammo, go with the Springfield loaded model. If you are planning on having a custom pistol built, carrying with ball ammo or casual plinking...go with the Norinco. Both are excellent 1911's.

I'll make this really simple, BUY BOTH.

You won't be sorry.
