THE asylum seekers who hijacked a fishing trawler and slashed a crewman's throat could still make a claim for protection in Australia.
It takes up to 30 days to travel by boat from Sri Lanka to Cocos or Christmas Islands. Sri Lankan police believe the vessel is now in international waters after five days at sea. Australia must assess all asylum claims but can reject applicants on character grounds, a Department of Immigration spokeswoman said last night. Sri Lankan police superintendent Preshan Jayakody said he was aware of up to two other cases where fishing boats had been hijacked by asylum seekers. Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to Australia alerted the Government, while the Sri Lankan Navy continued to work with local police to find the boat. "We need to be extremely vigilant, we suspect this boat is heading towards Australia," Sri Lanka navy spokesman Kosala Warnakulasooriya said. Sri Lankan authorities said the vessel was not connected to arrests made last weekend of 11 asylum seekers further south of Sri Lanka on another trawler. Opposition immigration spokesman Scott Morrison said the Government should begin searching for the vessel to intercept it. "Labor must not wait for these alleged pirates to arrive here and seek asylum. Alleged criminals should face justice," he said. A spokesman for Immigration Minister Chris Bowen said details were still unclear. "Minister Bowen has spoken to Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to Australia, Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe, and was told that details remain sketchy and investigations are continuing in Sri Lanka." "The AFP are assessing reports and any other relevant information, and are in liaison with Sri Lankan authorities." The incident comes days after the Herald Sun revealed more than 2200 asylum seekers had been arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy this year, including electricians, security guards and government workers. http://www.news.com.au/national/boat...-1226498884161 ----------------------------------------------------------------- so murderers are ok too , we know known terrorists are ok now murderers too , and what if they want your seat on the train when they get here , will they kill you for that ? if so that'll be ok will it ? how about we make then live with those who defend them and bring these types here oh thats right they live in gated communities with armed security at the gates to keep the likes of these refo's out thats the greens , thats socialism as a side question can you still catch and execute people at sea for piracy ?? i mean the law is still on the books so why cant we just shoot em to bits when they get in range and consider it punishment delivered

seen them practise concrete bombs?
fill up a mold with concrete then attach the fins after its set mount them under the wings as usual and they fly like normal bombs so the targeting systems work a treat ( aussie cut price range practise ) as soon as they enter our waters , drop a couple on em i've seen our folks fly them bombs through windows so hitting a boat is no worries but we be too PC for that , and i'll probably be reading how they get arrested for killing or raping when they arrive like most of these mutts |

No asylum, no opportunity to apply. Send a Navy frigate and blow that trawler out of the water.

Jack, people who aren't willing to kill can never protect Freedom. You and I both know that. No matter how old I get I will never have a problem with pulling the trigger to end the life of someone who would kill to oppose Freedom for humanity. Child molesters and violent rapists are those people at the top of my bullet chain should I be asked to shoot them dead along with serial bombers, terrorists and a couple more on the list.
All these whiney liberals who want to 'rehabilitate' these parasites on humanity have never pulled a trigger. They have always wanted someone else to do it for them. Just get a navy frigate sent in and blow that trawler to depths of the ocean where those 'martyrs' will never get known and they become shark food. |
