Question Mounting A Scope On My Springfield champion 1911 45

Hi can any one help i am thinking of puting a scope on my springfield armory champion 1911 45 4" barrel for target shooting but i have no idea of what i need or have to do like do i need to use rails and if so what kind and what is a good one same with mounting rings what king and who makes a good set same with the scope what would be a good one for a hand gun and what would be a good name or should i just go with a red dot scope again i don't know anything about red dots.
Please help i have a great 1911 45 and i thing with the right scope on it it would be awesome
I have no idea what will fit on my gun please help

Leupold is good and you can get their bases and rings for about $50 combined
