Hey I just inherited my great grandfathers' .22, and I am having some difficulty finding similar rifles. I would love any insight anyone might have.
Winchester Model 90 .22 L Rifle Round barrel Take down Pistol Grip stock Serial number is 62,*** has the number on the bottom of the gun and one inside too. Here is where it gets strange...at least it seems strange compared to other model 90's I've seen. It has the take down screw on the right hand side of the gun not the left. It has an internal hammer. It has a clip, not a tube. I have not been able to find a Model 90 that have any of these last features. I would love some help. I have tried to include pictures of the barrel and the clip(made by savage) Thanks.

How about a pic of the whole gun? From the info you've provided, it's most likely that your rifle is a re-barreled Savage 1903 or 1909.

Hi Ready & sharpinvestments......a big TFF welcome to you both!
![]() Sharpinvestments, you're pretty sharp! I think you've nailed it. This wouldn't be a Winnie Model 90.....the M90 was a tube-fed pump. The Savage M1903/1909 is the only clip-fed pump rifle that I know of. |

Now this is starting to make some sense!
The Serial number just never made sense for a Winchester or this age...and this gun has the savage clip shown in the picture. Thank you both for helping solve the mystery. Ready. |

BTW.....just FYI....the rebarreling had to have been after 1919. Prior to that the barrel would've been marked Model 1890.
