Hello,
I have an older Marlin model 57M that has no serial number, any suggestions on how to “Mark” the gun for identification with out devaluing it? I know its not worth a bunch, but its still in great shape and I don’t want to hurt it. I do however want to be able to identify it should, God forbid, something happen. Thanks

I have seen guns marked with a SSN (or other number, unique to the owner) on the underside of the barrel, hidden by the stock. Vibratory engraver or rotary engraver, carefully applied, is just fine.
