There is always a penalty for stupid. Some pay sooner than others, but in the end, they all pay.
Funny as hell to watch, though. Clouder..

There is a very fine line between skill and stupidity. The adrenaline rush comes when you get close enough to the line to peek over to the other side.

Ok, I edited the original link. I'll host it for a couple of weeks, until this thread dies off. Enjoy.
Fairly amusing video, BTW. Some of those guys are real idiots. |

I hate to admit that when I was younger, I was much like these idiots.

You'd think with enough fatalities they'd mellow out on the freeway a bit...Guess I did some pretty dumb stuff when I was a kid too, in my own way. Crpdeth

I watched that and being I lost the use of my legs from a motorcycle accident ( I learned to walk again in 3 months and walked with 2 canes for several years afterwards, still do some days!) but against doctors predictions I regained the use of them, I thought that what they were doing out on the open roads was so dang stupid, they deserve all they get or got. Stupidity such as that gives all of us that enjoy riding a bad name. When I ride my Harley, I am thankful I make it home in one piece let alone endanger others as they did on that video. Talking about many that DESERVE the Darwin Award, that vidieo was full of them IMHO. Pure stupidity in it's simplest form.

People on Harley’s know better than to risk crashing a bike worth 20K.
Back when I was dumber then I am now I did some of these same stunts on a XLCH Harley Sportster, and a 400 Suzuki Cyclone. In 1971 a friend of mine road a CB 350 Honda on its rear wheel for 45 miles from Hobby Airport in Houston to Galveston Island. It was a stunt that a local Rock radio station sanctioned, but they caught hell from the Texas Department pf Public Safety afterwards. Trinity +++

People on Harleys have enough trouble keeping the bike from rattling itself to pieces.
Nah, gimme' a Nimbus, BSA or Norton.. old Moto Guzi's also. THOSE bikes have charm.

Yeah, well if there were no such thing as a Harley I wouldn't even consider riding, the Harley Davidson is in a class of it's own, often mimicked (too often lately) because of it's rich one of a kind style, its rebelious attitude and it's brotherhood, evoking the underachiever and lawyer, LEO and villian, to ride as equals, side by side... Unarguably when you buy a Harley Davidson, you buy into a family.
There is a reason people pay more to say "I'll pass" on a cushey "charming" ride, and in my opinion this reason is combination of American pride, history and legend...In production for just over a century...There again for a reason, quite frankley, Harley owners are not so because they needed transportation. That vibration my friend speaks of is part of the Harley legend, most owners love it, seemingly the lady folk talk about it more, how they "love that vibration", that muscular, rumbling, Hog... but for that small percentage who cant handle it, or just dont like it, they do have the option of going with the new, torque filled, Evolution engine. Never has another bike maker brought so many kindred spirits together in rallys and toy runs, evoked the manufacture of hundreds items from t-shirts to tattoos, from pocketknives to pickups, and never will they. In case you may be wondering what I ride...I have a Trex bicycle out in the shop...I dont even own a Harley. YET Crpdeth

Well said! Most folks who criticize Harleys have never even ridden one. Much less spent any appreciable amount of time on one.
I have a soft spot in my heart for my Harleys and wouldn't trade them for any other make of motorcycle. They are awesome machines; built to last and look/sound like a man's motorcycle. Not one of these whiny little pieces of Japanese crap that the kiddos ride. |

Toby, thank you, you are too kind...As you know though, I am only relaying the truth.
My Twin Brother rides a Harley and his scoot is at my disposal, although I do not and will not take advantage of the offer because of several reasons... The group that he rides with are guys that I know personally for the most part and as a whole they make it harder and harder not to go down and acquire that payment book, the comradery that they share is unparalleled, sure they have their differences but I must admit that if it were not for the unequalled bond between Harley riders I'm afraid that the desire would lose its luster for me personally, to at least a small degree, I suppose what I am saying is that this brotherhood is seen in so few other places and certainally is caused by no other manufacturer of a viehicle. You described the Harley as a "Mans Motorcycle" I couldn't have said it in more simple terms, I have nothing against the rice rockets if thats what they want, I'm sure they have their favorable attributes, but the Hog is a stately, indomitable, "Mans Bike" and everyone knows it, when it pulls into a parking lot filled with people, all eyes are on the Hog, results that were achieved while slowly rumbling along, never having the need to constantly rev on the throttle or bring it up on one wheel in the process. Even I didn't do that bad in my first drag race! I've seen a few video tapes full of the shenanigans. Used to do stupid stuff like that, too.

Crpdeth,
Come to think of it I didn't a single "Man" riding any of the bikes in the video. They all looked like a bunch of bumb kids to me. I wonder how many were ether drunk or had taken drugs before doing some of those stupid stunts? Harley's rule... ![]() Trinity +++

Only reason why people turn and look - is due to the durn noise it makes.
You can't have a normal conversation with a Hog in the vicinity. Nope - Still into BSA's, Norton's and Nimbus..

A friend of mine who lives in California told me in around 96 the banks wouldn't finance those street racers in his area because the stupid kids buying them would total their bikes and kill themselves before they could get them paid for. I know of a few personaly that died on those bikes after drinking to much and jumping on one.
