Default observation about TFF from new-ish user

I'm new to tff as of may. was steered her by a member of a gun collecting list I belog to. I read a few C&R and firearm specific lists . and some collecting lists and forums.. I've gotta say... the collection of people found here at TFF just about takes the cake. While I certaintly run into nice helpfull people on the other lists and forums.. they are interspersed with so many coarse and abrasive others that it makes it a dice roll when you open your mailer or reader...

Gotta say.. some good folks here at TFF.. admin too.. been on too many sites that the admins never answer a tech supt type question. overall.. I gotta say.. nice place. hope to hang out here a long time and learn.

open "thanks" go out to the admins and membership..

There's the occasional troll, but they don't last long. That's what's great, IMO.

Most other sites will allow them to do a lot of harm, and wind up loosing good members in the process. Not Here.

We all pretty much feel the same way Soundguy, but it's time you learned TFF's "dirty little secret". Many of our members have perverted tastes. I mean they are nice people and all, but frankly they just don't know their ice cream. Thin mint indeed. Cherry vanilla or maple walnut, topped with chocolate syrup, rules.

i have to stick with what I can find in surgar free / no sugar added or whatever passes as light. but there are quite a few flavrs that fall into that. even going a bit over the edge and including frozen yogert, rice milk and sherbert type deserts.

I have had the pleasure to be involved in a few "spirited" debates and conversations here on TFF; but they were all, in my opinion, kept on a professional and adult level. No personal attacks, etc. While no group of people will ever be in complete agreement about everything, this is a good place to debate your opinion without being threatened or attacked.

That being said, I will not venture into the ice cream controversy! We will discuss and argue politics, religion, and constitutional issues all day, but to delve into what ice cream is best is taboo in my opinion. Even though I am a plain vanilla (homemede preferably) or Dutch chocolate guy (either/or, not mixed together; that is just wrong), I will never condemn another man's right to eat whatever flavor he wants, no matter how disgusting it may be.

But, you're right, this is the greatest forum by far that I have found; with the best members.

SG, you are not going to believe where this shortwave radio thing has gone... long story short, after 6 weeks now of not being satisfied with what is available I am trying out my 4th radio this week and it is an Alinco table top!

If it has the two main words "Ice" and "Cream" it works for me, no matter what flavors might have been added!

I am only regestered on 2 firearms forums. obviously TFF. The other is Gun & Game. THey call themselves the friendliest gun forum on the web. Both of these forums are filled with people who have absolutely no problem helping anyone with a legitimate question or problem and at the same time telling the trolls when and where to get off.
I once commented on the forum about my minimal posts. I do not spend a lot of time on either forum and usually when I come across an interesting post it usually has a half dozen or more competent answers or comments rendering moot anything I might have to contribute. Occasionally, I get in early.
This is truly one of the absolute best forums I have ever visited. There are no 'know-it-alls' and no one here has yet to be abusive to the newcomers.
I,too, think this is a great place to spend an hour or so.

IMO, any newcomer who winds up on the short end, came here for that purpose. Or, were sent here by a Former Guest.

Or, they went thru a few threads to see what they post to get the attention they don't get at home.

Ask and you shall receive.
