Default Question

I have posted several guns on here to determine values and years and have always got the answers I was looking for, and I really appreciate that. A friend of mines niece has inherited several guns and has no idea what they are worth. I am no expert, but I do have a blue book I can look many of them up, but I always like to get others opinions as well.

They have brought me poleroids of each gun and serial numbers, but the only way I can post them here is to take a picture of the pictures and they wont be the best quality. There are 22 total guns. Would anyone mind if I posted and asked for info on that many guns? I dont want to impose. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your replies. I dont take the forum lightly and I appreciate everyones help and time. I dont feel entitled to clog up the forum with all of these guns. I am working on blue booking some now, like the gov model colt 1911 made in 1966. But there will be others. Thanks.

Heck, if they're pistols, scan the gun. That's what I did with these.

Although it does tend to make the color funky on the blue guns.

Default Re: Question

Are these for sale or for values for insurance purposes. reason i ask, I collect Hi-Standards!

So, the 103 sport king has the "space gun barrel" on it, betting not the original barrel, has some barrel weights, and is of the 8: or longer length. That gun will bring really decent money. It has a lit going for it, the barrel weights and the barrel itself are highly desirable. With that said to true collectors if it is not an original barrel, it will hurt some as to collector value. To target shooters it will add to value. IMHO it is worth easily $800+ and target shooters will most likely pay more. The model B wil;l bring in the $400+/- $100 range on the online auctions. From the picture it does have some roughness on the slide but that could be just the way the picture is, cannot tell for sure. Now these are WAGs hoing by what I have been seeing on the online auctions as of late. I klnow tehre will be some that will dispute my idea as to these values and I do not claim to be an expert. I am going on what I have paid for my several HI-Standard over the years and mainly by current online auction guns that are actually selling rather than sitting there with no bids.

The 16 ga will sell in the $100 to as high as $175 on line and I would suspect closer to the lower price in part due to the poly choke, undesirable gauge, and maker.

Again do not take my word as a dead set value because as stated I am by no means an expert and some one will come along to dipute the values I stated of that I am sure of. I just go by what I see guns selling for on the online auctions which is a good indicater as to what a gun is worth as long as you take into consideration that m,ost sold online have a shipping fee of $15 to as high as $40.

I am trying to help a young lady determine the values of what she inherited. Your comment of "loose the mauser" was absolutely zero input.

Post Re: Question

Hi Double D. GOOFY here The blue book is a good place to start. It gives you a starting point HOWEVER the selling price is determined by what YOUR AREA wants are! For instence a ithaca can be worth $250 but only sells for $150 in your area but in my area it could sell for $400 So after you determine thier value look around at local gun shops to see what price they have them for sale.Find out what they are worth in your area and sell the guns that are in high demand local then put the others on the internet to bring in the highest price you can get.Alot of people look at the gun auction sites for guns that are in high demand in thier area and they can not get them.So you can end up not haveing to give a gun away because no one around you wants them.By the way is there any Ithacas?(I know i'm begging again).............GOOFY

Goofy, thanks for your reply. She has approached me because I am a gun shop and she knows I will be honest with her. I have the blue book, and the internet, but I like to share with the members here and get some opinions and insights. I am aware of the area differences and variations. But thanks for your input.

Sory for saying what you all ready know (i did not know you are in the same bissness as me) I like the browning 22lr in the case it would bring in around $1200 or more around here. but would like to have some more info about this gun....GOOFY The colt .45 would sell around here for at least $200to$300 more then the blue book(people just like the colt around here).

I estimated the browing medalists to be 12-1300. They look to be fine guns. I have already reserved the colt 1911 for myself. Its a newer model than I normally collect but its still a colt.

There is a double barrel 12 ga I havent posted a pic of, but its an antique made by E. Remington & sons between 1816 and 1889. I cant pinpoint a value on it. I saw some for 700 and saw one sold for 3500.00. One person says they could go as high as 7000.00, but I would think that would have to be perfect. I am going to try to get my own pics at a later date.

As I said, I have only the pics I posted and have not seen the guns. I am going to arrange a meeting to take my own pics and hold them myself. You are seeing all I have seen so far.

Double D, the sport king having 2 barrels explains the barrel; on it. I knew it was not an original barrel to it but you probably have the original barrel though so I would bump my value on the 103 HS Sport King by a good $200. As to the Remington Double Barrel and when made. I would venture to guess without seeing it that it was made after 1845 at least IF Cap-Lock and I have not seen a Remington double barrel flinter in any of my books or my trips to Friendship IN to the NMLRA national BP shoots. I look forward to the picture of it and I can maybe help narrow down the time frame on it's manufacture. I am into BP guns very heavy so it is of interest to me.

You have been given some good advice, you are a FFL holder so you know the business, and with that said I am sure you will sell them where the lady will get the most bang for the buck as a good dealer should and will do.
