Default Cop sues Glock because his 3 year old son shot him

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/07/2...-son-shot-him/

He's blaming the trigger and lack of a grip safety.

I don't own a Glock, or any other striker fired hand gun.

safe keeping of his weapon would also have prevented this just another example of someone who will not take responsibility for their own actions its someone elses fault not mine someone from glock must have came to his house hid in the back of his truck loaded the gun handed it to his kid and said here shoot daddy

He's blaming Glock for his own stupidity?

In California it's illegal to have a loaded gun in the car.

In California it's illegal to have a gun in the car without it being secured in a locked container.

In California it's illegal to leave guns where children can get to them.

In most states, when you break the law, you are no longer the victim.

He broke at least three California laws. How can he sue anybody? Why isn't he in jail?

You also forgot the one where his kid was not properly secured in the car seat, which enabled him to reach the firearm.

But he's a cop, so he thinks he exempt from those laws.

I thought about the car seat, but I don't think that's required unless you are actually driving the car. He could have been somewhere, arrived home, unlatched the kid, and then bent down to tie his shoe. Could be several reasons why a kid in a car was not belted in.

But, yeah, cops don't have to obey they law. They are the law.

Leastways, that's what a lot of 'em think.

Another reason to start issuing revolvers again: the long 14# trigger pull of a standard issue DA revolver could not be pulled by any 3 year old who is not on steroids.

Another example of someone not taking responsability for their own actions.
It's so much easier to blame someone else.

"the off-duty officer forgot that he had left the loaded .45-caliber pistol under the front seat of this Ford Ranger. The child was not in a safety seat at the time."

but it's the gun's fault! geeeez

maybe he should also sue Ford for providing an area under the seat to put the gun.

If it wasn't his kid, he probably would.

Absurd. Now, if he was carrying in a lawful manner, had accidently shot himself, and if he had requested and his department declined, to issue him a pistol with manual and grip safeties, then he MIGHT have a case against the department, but it's doubtfull.

No one who doesn't prevent access to a firearm by a three year old or who doesn't have the child secured in a safety seat while in a vehicle, deserves to be a cop. I guess that point is moot now, but if he hadn't have been paralyzed, he should have been fired.

Now how much will the price of a Glock go up because they had to defend against such a frivolous suit? Not that it effects me. I'll never again own another semi auto pistol without a manual safety. I don't care what everyone else says, they have just never felt safe to me.

If you really want something to be angry about: taxpayers will be paying him 100% disability for the rest of his natural life.
